I really did not know how to answer the last letter from her. I've checked the manifest, which you found from 1899 for Jan Gos~c~, and see what you are saying. Cziony, is definitely misspelled. There is no place in Poland, which starts with Czi. This presents a problem. There are 5 places named Kalisz in Poland: KALISZ (KALISZ POMORSKI) 5403 1748 V Poland 181.6 miles NW of Warsaw KALISZ 5257 2039 N Poland 50.5 miles NNW of Warsaw KALISZ 5221 1846 N Poland 94.5 miles W of Warsaw KALISZ 5145 1805 N Poland 128.7 miles WSW of Warsaw KALISZ 5016 2008 N Poland 142.0 miles SSW of Warsaw Terri ... do you know if your grandfather became a citizen of the US? If he did and you were to find his Declaration of Intent to become a citizen, it would have his place of birth. We would like to help you, but it looks like you will need to do a little more research. Have you been able to find him in any census records? Tina Ellis

Jan Gosc , your great-grandfather, came May 31, 1899, in age 21 [was born in 1878]. He was from Kalisz region, but village name has bad spelling - you must check Census data or the other data, for correct village name. He had brother Stanislaw Gosc. Jan Gosc, which came June 4,1912, in age 26 [born 1886 was not your great-grandfather. He was younger and in his manifest, I do not see info, that he was before in US. Therefore, all your conceptio is not correct, your great-grandfather family was not dispersed for all Poland. Wladyslaw
