Hi, My Linkowski's emigrated from Sejny, Poland to Wilkes-Barre, PA. My great-grandfather was Witold Linkowski who emigrated in 1891. He had a sister Rosalia also who emigrated in 1892 to Wilkes-Barre, PA also. Witold married Sarafina Strinkowski. They had 13 children - Stanley, Edwega, Stephanie, Edward, Frank, Joseph(my grandfather), Helen, Verna, Regina, Louis, Monica, Eleanore and Amelia. Rosalia Linkowski married Louis Strinkowski(Sarafina's brother). I have more information on their childrens children also, if any of this may relate to you. Let me know. There are no people named Linkowski and Strynkowski in that city with listed telephone numbers. Perhaps they were from the county area near the city of Sejny. There are 11 people named Nmiotko with telephone numbers. Namiotko is the masculine spelling and Namiotka is the feminine spelling. Tina Ellis

He had refused to go into the Russian army (at that time, service in the Russian army was usually a death sentence for a Jew) and had escaped through Germany. He was an Orthodoz Jew . He was married twice in this country and had several children. His second wife, Sarah Sorblum (originally Zaurbach) was also from Kutno. I do not know much about the Family in Poland.

You will only know their religious affiliation after you search for records in Poland. If they came to the US (not sure where you are), they may have Jewish names on the manifests. If not, they may have Christian names. The manifest will tell you if they were Polish or Yiddish. They may have converted to Roman Catholic, but conjecture will not determine that. Have you tried finding records in Poland? Knowing where they lived will determine in what parish or administrative district they lived. The LDS have Polish parish records on microfilm. They have all religions and civil records. Tina Ellis

It is an unusual name in this country, and not exactly common in Poland. What else do you know about this family? They were married in the RC church in Drohiczyn and children were baptized there in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

The part I wasn't clear about was: you listed Kirstein in the header as to whom you were looking for.
