Hope you would be able to shed more light for me to explore.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RdC.2ACI/547.3 Message Board Post: Hi Gene, bonjour from Paris. I have replied to your e-mail on the French site "Wirtualna Francjia" - here is my reply, but you will have to on the French site to open the links. QUOTE// Hi Gene, howdy there! Got your e-mail. Couldn't revert earlier since I was on the move. I thought I'd better reply to you on this Forum, on the ground that some other members can read this topic and might have more ideas and information to sustain your search. On the top of that, should you need Polish translations, I have noticed that the knowledge of Polish language is far much highter here than on many US sites. Also many are fluent in English I guess the data you have from the Shipping Manifests ex-Hamburg and Ellis Island records are accuruate. Now, given Dorothee's answer about the numerous similar names, a better path might be to start from Sejmy town and check if some of these names can be found there and in the surrounds FYI, using Dorothee's link - (click here) I found only 2 LINKOWSKI in the area. It's already better than 877!!! (the region concerned is "Suwalskie", code SU) Similarly, there only 9 STRYNKOWSKI in this area, but unfortunately 246 NAMIOTKO as well However the task looks hard. Sejmy is located on the north-eastern Border Lands, a particularly tormented zone for the period 1818-1945. I'm sure you you know this, if not check this site (click here). It's a Jewish site, in English, but you can try to set a request on the page down "contact" link. Keep me posted. //UNQUOTE

Type in Mroz. In all of the area of this province, there is one person listed named Wojciech Mroz in the village of Lapy-Lynki. Kaminski is a more common name, so you would want to know in what village he was born. Knowing that they were from the Lomza area is some help, but not much because Lomza is not only a city, but is also a county by the same name and there used to be a province with this name. Since Mroz is not a common name in the area, I suggest writing to Wojciech to see if he is your cousin. He may be the last of the family. Tina

Have you ever been to Tolwin? Or, do you still have any connections to the village. Your father was born after my grandfather left Tolwin for the US in 1913, but his family stayed there until World War 2. If he, your father, is still alive, or if have you any knowledge of any of these families: Kosinski, Niewinska, Klopotowski, or Orzechowski/Orzepowski, can you let me know? When my grandfather left Tolwin his parents, Piotr Piotrowski and Aleksandra Kosinska and his sister, Antonina were still living there. When it was apparent that the war might reach Tolwin, they went to live either in Krakow or somewhere near by. My grandfather spelled his name Pietrowski, but many records are Piotrowski.
