That's all I know of her parents. Victoria had a interesting life. Her first husband, Joseph Glinski, died in a factory accident when his arm was ripped off by machinery. She was given a cash settlement, packed up her three children, and came to PA in 1894. A year later she returned to Suwalki in search of a husband. She married Frank Doraskiewicz (Daruskewicz) in Poland then brought him to PA and married him again. The Hamburg ship's manifest shows three children with them ages 3 to 8 last name Doraskiewicz, but these children never appeared in a census with them. Not sure what to make of that. Victoria and Frank had six more children. I'm sure you saw the photos of her and her house online. I'm just telling you all this in case something rings a bell. Good luck to you in your research. Author: mjasion Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.poland.podlaskie/1775.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My (3x)great-grandmother was named Rozalia Raczylo/a [other possible spellings: Raczyllo/a or Racilo/a]). She was born about 1820 (so ca. 100 years earlier than your grandfather) in parish Jeleniewo. There are many villages called Slobódka in Poland, but the surname Raczylo occurs almost exclusively in the Suwalki county (see links below). The only Slobódka in this county was located in parish Punsk till 1908, and from 1908 till today in the newly established parish Becejly. Punsk and Becejly parishes border to the south with the Jeleniewo parish. I'm going to investigate relatives of my (3x)great-grandmother - it's possible that your ancestor is distant descendant of the same family as my ancestor. This surname was not very common. Do you have more info about your great-grandfather (parents, exact birth date(s))?
