Hi--I may be wrone, but the 'wicz'-ending to a surname is often Jewish. I think the Cath.-Jewish connection in Poland is fascinating. There was a lot of mixture, often 'shadowy,' i.e. no one talked about, but not uncommon. I had an uncle 'Izzy,' and it dawned on me that he had to have been Jewish; his last name ending in 'wicz.' He was much-loved, and accepted by the family, but no one brought this subject up. He was a shop-owner, a clue. Because the Polish Gentile peasantry, aristocracy disdained entrepreneurship. These are all generalizations, of course, to take with a grain of salt//Ms. Theo Skowronek// On 11 Jun 2005 pgorecki@ozemail.com.au wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AdC.2ACE/873.2.1 > > Message Board Post: > > As far as I am aware, all my Rozmyslowicz were catholics. I would be interested in a bit more info you may have on your grandfather. Contact me off the web if you wish.
