    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AdC.2ACE/1084.1.1.1 Message Board Post: It does look like the manifest says they're from Russia, but if you look closely, you can see the word Austria written under the stamp that says "CIT. DISCH. ON PIER" in the Nationality column. By the way, if I understand that notation correctly, it means that the children did not require processing through immigration because they were US Citizens. At that time (before 1922), when the husband/father became a citizen of the USA, the wife and minor children were automatically granted citizenship through him - whether or not they had ever set foot in the country. If your aren't aware of this service, you can contact the Library of Congress and have them send you a copy of a historical map with your town(s) of interest on them. I have several for my ancestral towns, and they're pretty detailed. You can see roads and symbols for houses/buildings on the map. Visit this webpage: http://www.loc.gov/rr/askalib/ask-geogmap.html and click on the Ask a Librarian link. You'll be taken to an online form. Just fill in the information, tell them you want to obtain a photocopy of a map of Kolaczyce, Poland from whatever time frame you wish and provide them with the geographic coordinates - 49°49' 21°26'. They will send you a photocopy of whatever historic map they have that is closest to the year you specify. It's an invaluable resource for historical research, and as far as I know the service is absolutely free. BTW, no, I'm not from Dallas. It's my surname. :-) Regards, MJ
