Patriotic family heavily involved in fight for Polish independence. JOZEF PAWLAK, b.@1835-1845, married to WIKTORYA believed born on December 23 @1845 Children: WOJCIECH b.@1866 (in Latin, Adalbertus) WINCENTY b. @1867 JOZEF b. @1869 MARYA b. @1872 FRANCISZEK b. Oct. 4, 1876, died March 1944 Unknown children? Franciszek Pawlak married (1) Jozefa Pakula from Ozorkow near Lodz; and (2) Apolonia Krycinska from the vicinity of Krakow. Would appreciate being notified if anyone encounters this family. Franciszek considered himself a Mazur. Before the partitions, inhabitants of the Warsaw area used to be called Mazurzy--this I believe changed with the partitions when the Germans=Prussians started calling the inhabitants of today's Mazury area 'Masurs." He spent many years exiled by the Russian czarist government to Irkutsk, Siberia. Franciszek and his brother, Jozef, were involved in conspiracies to gain Poland's independence. Thanks, Hali
