    2. Michal Marciniak
    3. Hi Jana, Rarely, it happens that there is no listed a place of birth in a marriage certifice. Basically, they were supposed to show their birth certificate at the marriage, so it's hard to explain why the marriage cert does not say their place of birth. Was Apolonia the second wife of Franciszek? It would be good to find the marriage record for Franciszek and Jozefa Pakula where could be listed his place of birth. 3. Hello Alice, you wrote: > I'm trying to find out if there are any DON families still living in the > North Masovia vicinity. Is there anybody who has access to Polish > telephone directories? There are 82 bearers of this surname in Poland. Two of them reside in Warsaw (capital of Masovia too). My two cents: I guess your surname might hve been changed somewhen from the original form, which might have been too difficult for Americans to spell and write. Do you have any original documents? Kind regards Jozef of Warsaw, Poland

He hotfooted it to England, and became part of the "Polish Airforce" as a paratrooper in Scotland.
