This is where i found my great great grandparents names and on the Tutak side it gave me their village (Tarnow) , the Ziolkowski side said they were born in Chicago. Yes, if i ever make it to Chicago that would be fun to see what kind of records are there, i am sure there is alot to find out. In the census records i even have their old addresses. I think they owned a saloon or something at the time...

We have helped so many researchers who "hit a brick wall." Did you visit the LDS FHL and copy the marriage record of your great grandparents....it will give you the names of their parents and possibly the village or province where they lived in Poland.

    3. You can probably find the name on the Jewish Gen site. http://www.jewishgen.org/ Type in the name of the town and country. There is a town called Skoszyn. It tells you direction and distance from Warsaw. I have to say the PGSA was wonderful, this is where i started my entire geneology search, I knew my great grandparents 'Tutak' were married at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church there, and i found their marriage record, and nearly all of their families death notices in the Dziennic newspaper online. It was a great way to get me hooked, finding all this information online. I have a picture of my great grandmother when she was young, that was taken at a studio in Chicago on Milwaukee in 1890.

But it definitely lists their "home town and name of nearest living relative" as their father Frank Piontek in Skozin y Radem , and Skoszan Radom. Both Frank and Josef (who they were going to live with) died early , Frank in Detroit by a trolley car (which i havent found a death record yet for) and not sure where Josef died, on one peice of paper it said he died in Germany, but he was obviously here in Detroit when Frank and Lawrence came over.... I wonder if he went back to fight in World War I. Anyway, if I can find the Skozin they are speaking of...the correct spelling in Radom, i can maybe begin a search there... Thanks!!

On the Ellis Island registers..... It says Franciszek Piontek came to America in 1912 from Skoszan, Radom Russia. This is my grandfathers brother. My grandfather, Lawrence (or Warwziniac) Piontek came over in 1913 from Skozin, Radom... Wondering if anyone knows what city this is that they are obviously mispelling.... is it Skaryszew? Not sure how the pronunciation is, but would love to know the towns they came from, as that is always a great starting point to find relatives. Piontek has been spelled several ways, Piatek, Pientek, etc... Any information would be helpful!
