The most I have gets quite blurred before WW1. Why do you think it might be a translation from "Filipkowski" written in russian?

She went as a missionary sister to Zambia in 1945. She returned to Germany in 1953 and left the convent. She is a relative of mine. Her family at that time were behind the Iron Curtain. Her parents were Maria and Anton Ehm. She was the eldest of 9 children. Has anyone any news of her or her family?

The records are on available from the LDS. Suchy Grunt people may now be attending Okalewo church which is a bit closer then Skrwilno. Skrwilno and Okalewo are about 2km apart. I don't think Suchy Grunt has a directory.

Hi Daryl, Probably, it is a Mazewo. There are three villages of Mazewo in Poland which formerly used to be under a Russian rule. Two of them are next to each other and are located 27 miles to NW of Warsaw and the third one is located about 105 miles to NE of Warsaw. There is also a village of Mazew, located about 80 miles to the west of Warsaw. This village was also under the Russian rule at that time. Kind regards, Michal Marciniak Poland --- DHiller@aol.com wrote: > My uncle, Jozef Kulczynski, immigrated to Chicago > around 1910. My uncle, Jozef Kulczynski, immigrated to Chicago around 1910. The ship manifest shows that he was from Russia, specifically from Mazowa. Can anyone tell me if this is a town or village or is referring to the entire area? I would appreciate any information. Daryl Ann
