I just recently found out that my gr gr grandfather was born in Szczawin. I looked on www.mapquest.com. Type in Gabin, Poland. Clic for the close-up on this map. Look directly southwest of Gabin. I intend to order LDS microfilm for Gabin Parish. My gr gr grandfather was Marcin Krolikowski, born ~1833. I don't know anything about the other town you mention. I usually use www.shtetlSeeker.org to search for towns, but the site seems to be down recently. There is a town, Ciechomice, north near the river and directly above Szczawin. Ciechomice is in the Parish Dobrzykow films. Good Luck Bobbi

My g-great-grandmothers family was from Szczawin, Ciechanow, Poland and her last name was Placiszewski ( or something close to that, I have found three or four variations ). Her sister married someone from Popielzyn Dolny with the last name of Krzyzanowski. Again, any help would be appreciated.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AdC.2ACE/1117.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks to information received in the Poland Genealogy Forum, seem that the surnames I am searching for are something like: Szyszkowski (which latter was changed to Sisley) and Kasiszka (that was written like Kasizka). My ancestor was born around 1829 in Warsaw (no idea which part), son of Carlos [Karl/Karol] Szyszkowski and Anastazja [Anastasia] Kasiszka. We know that he was born Jewish, and for some reason related to his faith he changed his name. He came to Perú (South America) by the Amazon River (though Brazil), and lived in a small village in the Peruvian Jungle. He was married in a Catholic Church in February of 1880 to Isabel Moreno. He had a least five children with different persons (including Isabel Moreno). We also know that he had a least one daughter that lived and died in France. I have being trying to get old documents of my family but haven’t had luck on this. I got the names of the parents of Luis [Lucjan?] Sisley [Szyszkowski] from his marriage record. I have being trying to gets his death certificate, and his testament (since he was a wealthy person), but with no positive result. I will try harder anyway. I will appreciate any assistance in my research. Best regards, Javier Pinto Lima, Peru
