Regretfully, I'm not much help. Am looking for a Victoria from one of the Pawlak/Pawluk families who lived in the villages of Dabrowa Wielka, Wisniowek, Nowa Wies in Wysokie Mazowieckie Parish, some 75 miles NE of Warsaw. LDS Library has Lodz, Wroclaw & Warsaw birth & marriage recds for 1835-1870 but none after 1870. As you know, yr best sources are Janina's citizenship & social security recds or an address she might have for Maria. Good Luck & don't give up; the answer's out there somewhere.

World War II and its aftermath severed family connections. perhaps, additional information will help. FRANCISZEK Pawlak's father, Jozef, is believed to have taken part in the January Uprising of 1863. Jozef taught his children to "first do your duty and only, then, go pray=najpierw posluszenstwo, pozniej nabozenstwo." Franciszek taught his children the poem, "Mazur ci ja Mazur." Franciszek had the following children: Edward (b. 1909- believed deceased in Poland), Janina (b. 1921-lives in USA), Adam (b. 1925-deceased in Poland) , Maria (b. 1929-lives in Poland). I know that Franciszek Pawlak's brother, WINCENTY, had 3 children: Boleslawa, Fema, and Wladyslaw. Wincenty lived with his daughter, Boleslawa Pajecka, in Warsaw itself before and after WWII. They lived on "ulica Grottgera 13." It's believed that Boleslawa has died and we don't know her daughter's ( Ania) married name. If alive, Boleslawa Pajecka would be about 95 today and her daughter would be about 63-65. Boleslawa Pawlak Pajecka also had a son, Heniu=Henry who was listed as missing during WWII--his surname is not known to us. Fema (unknown married name) and her children--one was named Alinka--died during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. Wladyslaw died during an appendicitis operation but left three young sons who also participated in and survived the Warsaw Uprising. Franciszek's oldest brother, WOJCIECH, had several children One of his sons was named Janusz and he married Freda. Janusz and Freda are believed to have lived (possibly been born) in Lodz and, later, Wroclaw. Cordially, Hali

They had 5 children: Stanislawa (d. 1894), Franciszka (d. 1905), my grandmother Zofia (b.1886-d.1970) - she married Jan Staniszewski, they had 3 children Marianna (my grandmother), Franciszek and Stanislaw, Jan - married Wladyslawa Szprengiel) and one brother went to America...I think in early 1900's. I ve found some info about Waclaw (Warlaw) Rulka on immigrations ship list. He went to Detroit in 1913, when he was 17, to his brother Stanislaw Rulka. His last residence in Poland was Szminsk - I think it's incorrect name...it was Szrensk near Radzanow. Would appreciate being notified if anyone encounters this family. Franciszek considered himself a Mazur. Before the partitions, inhabitants of the Warsaw area used to be called Mazurzy--this I believe changed with the partitions when the Germans=Prussians started calling the inhabitants of today's Mazury area 'Masurs." He spent many years exiled by the Russian czarist government to Irkutsk, Siberia. Franciszek and his brother, Jozef, were involved in conspiracies to gain Poland's independence. Thanks, Hali

    3. Hi All, I have probably mentioned this here before, but I thought I would bring it up again since I still have had no luck at tracing. On a number of different papers that my maternal grandfather was asked where he originated in Poland, he reponded: Senden, or Syndyn or Warsaw. He married my grandmother in Soczewka near Pl~ock in Pafarii Radziwie. I have tried twice to obtain their marriage record from the parish and now the Diocese Archive with no success. The priest who is Head of Archives in the diocese has written me a letter explaining exactly what to do. I have done just that. No marriage record sent to me. So now I am wondering if anyone out there has a better idea of where I might try looking on LDS microfilm for parishes that might include such a place. My grandfather is not included in the Radziwie films. Here are their details just in case. Marianna Kwiatkowsa of Soczewka, daughter of Franciszka Ptaszynska and Antoni Kwiatkowski. Born 16 Jun 1886. She married Aleksy Wybranowski, son of Edward Wybranowski and Anna Krol. He was born 4 Jun 1881. They married 23 Jan 1910 in Parafii Radziwie. I was successful at finding Marianna's baptismal record even tho it was written in Cyrillic. I had faith that I would find Aleksy's too if it was there. I guess I need hope instead. :) Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Bobbi IL

Surnames: Kalkowski, Sobczak, Borkowski, Renda, Mikolajczyk Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AdC.2ACE/971.2 Message Board Post: You probably are not going to find a village named Wolka (Wo'lka). I know of a village called Wolka Brwilenska, which is in Duninow parish, just across the river from the city of Plock. Duninow parish was part of the Archdioces of Plock, but in the civil administration, Gostynin 'county', not part of the Plock 'county'. I am suggesting that there could be tens of villages which start with Wolka in the Plock area. If you do not have a 19th century or modern gazateer of Poland, you could do a search of Catholic church micro films at the LDS web site, FamilySearch.org, search for Plock Poland, then open each parish found in the Plock Archdioces, and see which cities, towns or villages were in each parish, extract those which start with Wolka, then determine if any of them is yours. The benefit of this is that if you find your village, you know the microfilm where your family probably left records. You might find your village in less than an hour. Another option is to call the Central European Reference Librarian at the LDS church in Salt Lake. Submit your request, then when they have time, they might look it up. I wrote them a letter looking for a village that I found in a NJ marriage record of my grandfather. They not only looked it up, but sent a copy of a map where the village was located. Very, very nice people.
