    2. Tomorrow send me some names of your Poffs. There was a Samuel Poff said to be one of four brothers to come over on the Mayflower. Believed to settle in Mass. then into Pa. One of Samuel's sons was John Henry Poff. He married Sarah Mariah Corwin in Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois on July 3, 1880. Sarah was born in Pennsylvania to Mary Elizabeth Corwin (later Haskins when her husband was killed during Civil War at Hatcher's Run.) The family of Corwin and Haskins children went by covered wagon into Illinois with their mother and Orange Haskins There were thirteen children in all. There was a huge family of Poff s in Illinois for John and Sarah had 12 children and they really multiplied as they did in those days. It was in the area of Broadmoor and Milo, Illinois. I hope some of this means something to you . Give me some clues and perhaps we may run into a match here. Midge

    1. [Poff] another George Poff
    2. Robert Stewart
    3. "My" George Poff (b 1760-1770) is as follows: 1820 Clinton Co., Ohio Census has George POFF : Males under 10 (1), 16-26 (2), 45+ (1) Females under 10 (1), 10-16 (1), 16-26 (2), 45+ (1) 1830 Delaware Co., Indiana Census has George Poff neighbor to Zadoc STEWART (married Mary POFF April 27, 1824 in Clinton Co., Ohio) ; Samuel POFF (married Francis JONES May 01, 1817 in Clinton Co., Ohio); and Henry POFF (married Lucy JONES April 12, 1821 in Clinton Co., Ohio) Males under 5 (1), 15-20 (1), 60-70 (1) Females 15-20 (1), 40-50 (1) Other known children include: Matthew POFF (b 1799 married Abigail JONES May 11, 1823 in Clinton Co., Ohio); Ruanie POFF (b~1810 married Uriah ROOKS November 17, 1829 Delaware Co., Indiana; and William POFF (married Malinda STEWART September 29, 1836 Delaware Co., Indiana) this William POFF could also be the same one (b April 19, 1814) who married Malinda's cousin Julia STEWART February 25, 1840 in Tippicanoe Co., Indiana. The disparity between George's wife age of 45+ in 1820 and 40-50 in 1830 and the apparent birth of a son between 1825-1830, leads to the conclusion his first wife died and he re-married (a George POFF is recorded marrying a Elizabeth DAVIS Nov 22, 1823 in Clinton Co., Ohio) George POFF was in Tenessee in the early 1800's prior to moving to Ohio.

    2. Barb S.
    3. Julia, What is your Poff lineage from Peter Poff and Elizabeth Pickle? This is all I know about George Poff and Anna Merchant: George Poff, Sr., was first listed in the personal property tax files of Augusta Co., Va. in 1792 and then his name dropped out in 1798 (died?). Beginning in 1793 there were listed regularly, a Peter Poff, Sr., Charles Poff, George Poff, Jr. and John Poff/Puff. They MIGHT be sons of George Poff, Sr. Barb S. ============================================= At 08:56 PM 04/22/2001 -0400, you wrote: >If my facts are correct, Peter's parents are George Poff born in 1747 in >Pennsylvania died in 1898 married Anne Merchant on August 29, 1772, she was >born in Pennsylvania in 1750.
