I just subscribed to this list a couple weeks ago and haven't participated yet. I am descended from the first colony in MD and my ancestors go back to the Plantagenets also. I was just wondering how many of you were from the first colonies. If you care to reply, I was just interested. Wendy, My 7th ggf was Thomas Burnet, of Southampton, L.I., N.Y., one of the first English (he was actually a Scot) to settle Long Island in 1640-3. I have others also, but he's the main connection I have to the Plantagenets. Jim Priestlybride wrote: >I just subscribed to this list a couple weeks ago and haven't participated >yet. Both my husband and I are descendents of the first colonist. In New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland and Massachusetts. I have dozens of ancestors from the colonies. I am a member of NSDAR, Colonial Dames, and The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. You can find a LOT of my colonial ancestors (many with stories and history) at my website: http://genealogy2.com/ they are found on many pages but I'd suggest you begin by scrolling down and clicking on "Pilgrims" page.
