My Pitts line lived in Clay Co Missouri and Stone Co and Taney Co. My family speaks of a Pitts ancestor who kept a daily journal, detailing accounts of having coffee with Jesse James regularly but when the last owner of the journal passed away his property was broken into and the book went missing. Apparently there are people who believe the James Gang hid money on his property and it is believed that is what the thieves were after.
