He died 26 Jun 1813 in Sumner Co., TN. He is the son of David Pitts (1702-1783)born and died in Essex Co., VA. His wife was Elizabeth Crutcher born 1746 in Essex Co.,VA. i have one daughter listed for them: Lucy Pitts born 28 Mar 1775 in Powatan, VA. She died 28 Dec 1853 in Franklin Co., GA. His wife is Jane Cruikshank born 1705 in VA. She must have died before 1780 because she is not mentioned in her husband's will of that date. His name has been found in deed records as early as 1723. In that record, his land was listed as adjoining the property being sold. It appears David was a fairly wealthy man as he was in possession of large land holdings and numerous slaves when he died in 1783.
