My great grandfather (Jeff Pitts - June 1884 - Sept. 1926) married Mary J. Womack and moved to Wesson (Copiah County). We are told that Jeff's mother was also named Mary Pitts and died Mary Wright (may have been married to Emmanuel Wright). My sister visited her grave in Ovett while she was there. My sister spoke to Mary's daughter some years back who told her that her mother (Mary Pitts-Wright)had been married seven times and had 12 children and that she had given all of her children the last name Pitts. We were told that the father of Jeff Pitts was believed to be Charlie Dickins. From this we concluded that Mary's maiden name must have been Pitts but we are not sure. We did find a Mary Pitts who was the daughter of Daniel and Margaret Pitts from Ovett but the ages did not seem to be correct for this to be the right person. If anyone has any insight into this great mystery we would really appreciate th! e help.
