Uncle Billy as I heard him referred to was long deceased before I knew anything about the family. Besides those you name there were at least two more sons and another daughter. The first son died early in life. Uncle Billy, Aunt Laura, and the son are buried at Wausau Memorial Gardens. Uncle Billy and the son were moved there. I think they might have been interred originally at Barfield Cemetery before the Wausau Cemetery was opened. Phoebe Pitts was a Notary Public in the Wausau area and married my Dad and Mom on August 18, 1940. She was still living when they renewed their vows in 1990. Dad has since gone to be with the Lord. Royace and Henry Pitts were the two sons I knew. Royace retired as the District Design Engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation Third District. Henry retired from DOT after a career in law enforcement. Henry's son Travis served three t! erms as Clerk of Courts in Washington County. Growing up Aunt Laura was very active in our church and baked the best homemade pounds cakes you ever saw. She was credited with being able to cure "thrash" in babies. She lived next door to the Little League Baseball Field where I played and had a pear tree near the field that all the boys loved to raid. She was indeed someone who made my life better and my memories sweeter. Roger Hagan Mayor, Wausau Florida Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
