Julia Rebecca Pitts was born abt. 1844 in Texas - father was John M Pitts and mother, Louiza or Louissa Pitts. Julia Rebecca is my great grandmother, Dr. Layafette Ledford, my great grandfather. In an 1870 census, a 68 y.o. male, James Smith, resides with John M Pitts and Louiza, along with Julia and her brother Eubulas ... however, there is no mention of a relationship to any of the family.
