I checked deeds, mortgages, and tax lists and only came up with a Philip Pitts taxed in Crum Elbow-Amenia precincts 1753-1767. Levi Pitts,was born circa 1764 in Dutchess Co, died 20 January 1856 in the Town of Onondaga, Onondaga Co, NY; finding no other Pitts, I presume Philip was his father. I beieve my great(3)-grandmother Anna Pitts, born 17 July 1779 in Columbia Co, died 13 Aug 1874 in Saratoga Co, married Elijah Ellis about 1795, is a daughter of Amasa Pitts b. ca 1755-died 1739/40 in the Town of Chatham. In his Will, Amasa only shows 2 children (1) Philip, and (2) his daughter Salie who married Henry Fosmire,but I believe he had more than these two. All my records are posted on RootsWeb. He had one older brother that everyone can remember - Clyde Pitts - not sure about the spelling. Raymond Sr. married Willie R. Hale in 1922 in Fort Smith,AR. Raymond Sr. had two son's named Raymond Lee Pitts, Jr. (1924 in Fort Smith, AR) and Billy Jean Pitts (1938?). All I know about Raymond Sr's parents is that his mother's name was Lilly (not sure about the spelling) and that his father(no name available) died 1-3 years after Raymond Sr. was born because he was struck by lightning in a field he was tilling. Lilly died in OKC, Ok in 1964 under the name Lilly Crippen. Still trying to see if I can find her (third) husband's family at the time of her death to see if they know anything. There are NO census records that pick up Raymond Sr., or Raymond Jr. There are many Census records that pick up Willie Hale (his wife) but only before she was married. There are no birth records or obituaries, just social Security death index entries and one marriage record to Willie Hale. This side of my family is the only part that is untraceable.
