They lived in Picher, OK. in the 1920 she had two sons that we know of Lloyd Harris and Eddie (his name shows up in a census as Pitts but was in fact a West. Our Maudie was quite the character. She was married several times and we are not sure she bothered with Divorce. We do have several marriage certificates for her. Her maiden name was James and she was born in 1880 in Missouri. Does any of this sound at all simular to stories that you have heard? She is a major brickwall in my research. Would love to share any and all ideas with you. Maude's parents names were William and Mary James. She also had siblings. I have a copy of her death certificate but no birth certificate. The children listed in 1880 for John M. Pitts and Louiza J. Smith are: Eubulas E., Julia O., Elizabeth A., Louola, and Emma J. In the household also is a niece, Loujiza F. Smith and other boarders. It is always most helpful when one provides every little bit of information they have, especially dates, and full names when known. There must have been an obit especially since Julia died 1947. Do you not have birth and death dates for her husband? I hope when you get to the cemetery this month that you will take your camera. Hopefully you will find the grave of Julia's father and others. Also, if the church is still in operation, there would be church records. Talk with the pastor and inquire. It might help to know what John M. Pitts middle name was. I've had no luck locating a census so far or info on Julia or her brother Eubulas. Feel free to email me direct if you wish.
