I haven't delved too much into this side yet but my grandma was Maud Cecil, her father was Edwin 'Prosser' Cecil, who in 1871 was living with his grandparents Thomas and Hannah Grice. I have run into conflicting information. The first is I found where Obediah Pitts married Nancy Griffin in South Carolina, moved to Alabama, then to Texas. I also found that Obediah married Polly Grappin in Alabama, then moved to Texas abt 1832. My 3-Great Grandmother is Lucinda Griffin Pitts (married my 3-Great Grandfather Shubael Marsh). I believe Lucinda's middle name is after her Mother's maiden name. Could Nancy have died in Alabama and Obediah married Polly before moving to Texas? Does anyone know. Charlie's father's name was Hiram Pitts. There really was a Charlie Pitts in the James gang and he died of wounds following a bank robbery in Minnesota. The connection between that Pitts and the Osnabruck Pitts is unproven but the legend still exists in Osnabruck Township near Cornwall, Ontario. I have been researching this family for many years and would gladly share and exchange any information that you may have gathered also. My mother's maiden name was Pitts and she descends from James Pitts and Chesley Pitts of Osnabruck Township.
