    3. Joe, Portraits of Capt John PIGOTT and Mrs John PIGOTT, painted in oils on canvas by Joseph BLACKMORE in Bermuda in 1752, are on public display in the L.A. County Museum of Art. They were purchased to mark the Museum's 25th anniversary, using funds provided by the America Art Council. Images can be viewed on <http://collectionsonline.lacma.org>. The portraits were offered for sale in 1981 by James MORONEY Inc of New York, who identified Mrs PIGOTT as Fannie JONES. She was almost certainly the daur & 10th child of Francis JONES of Bermuda by his wife Elizabeth DARRELL. Fannie marr John PIGOTT of Bermuda, 1743; she died in England. I have not been able to positively identify Capt John PIGOTT. He may have been related to John PIGOTT, Esq, appointed Collector of Customs, Bermuda, in the Room of John LEWIS, deceased, Mar 1745 [Gentleman's Magazine]; but this John PIGOTT's wife was named as Jane. Thomas PIGOTT (b ca 1695) of Kilcromin, Queen's Co, & of Antigua, W. Indies, had an eldest son John PIGOTT (& named in an Irish deed of 1736), and a daughter who married a LEWIS, which might account for this Bermuda appointment being a family connection. Alternatively, Capt John may have been the son of Robert PIGOTT of Barbadoes (will dated 1743) by his wife Ann LAWRENCE, and named in his uncle Henry LAWRENCE's will dated 1725. Regards, Chris PIGOTT.
