    3. Rodney Piggott Gone Fishing _ Rodney Barker Piggott, 72, died December 13, 2006 in Salt Lake City. He was born August 12, 1934 in Bloomington, Idaho a son of William Madsen and Blanche Theora Barker Piggott. Married Carolyn Kaye Kilgore June 4, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, June 4, 1973. Member of the LDS Church, having served in the Elders Quorum as sports director and home teacher. Rod served in the U.S. Air Force in the Philippines. He was head of the K-9 Sentry Dogs, he trained the Philippine dog handlers and dogs for defense work in Japan and the Philippines. He worked as a police officer in Everett, WA. He was a long haul truck driver for many years with Garrett Freight Lines, PIE, Northwest Transport, Viking Trucking, FedEx Express. He was a sharpshooter with both pistol and rifle in the military and for the police department. He was a member of the number one sharp shooting team in the nation in 1966. Rod was also on the SL Post Office shooting in team in 1967. He was an avid fisherman. He loved all sports and he loved to play games with family and friends and was an avid pool player. Survived by wife, Carolyn; daughter, Drena (Mel) Healy; grandchildren, Madsen (Angelina), MaKayla (Benjamin) Carroll; great-grandchil-dren, Michael and Skylar; brothers and sisters, Merrill (Mary), Carolyn (Woody) Pendleton, Joyce Smedley, Jean (Mike) Pugmire, Loren (Roberta) Dunn, Donna (Don) Green, Jerry (Joyce) Dunn, CarolAnn (James) Guthrie, Janie (Lynn) Harris. Viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday December 20, 2006 at the white brick LDS church, 1457 West Atherton Drive (4310 South). Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday December 21, 2006 at the Taylorsville 8th Ward, 1495 West Tamarack Road (4567 South). Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Friday at the Paris Idaho Stake Center. Interment in the Bloomington Idaho Cemetery. Directors, Independent Funeral Service. Published in the Deseret News on 12/17/2006.
