Thomas PIGOTT, born ca 1460 (see earlier posting); Middle Temple Barrister, before 1483; warden of Whaddon Chase; held a "court" in Whaddon Church, 1494, where he attempted to re-define the boundaries of Whaddon Chase, to his advantage, & to which the local gentry & yeoman there assembled would not agree; Autumn Reader, Inner Temple, 1501; purchased Doddershall Manor, Parish of Quainton, Bucks, 25 Nov 1504, from William LEWSLEY, as a wedding present for his 2nd wife; member of the Governing Body, Inner Temple, 1505, & Treasurer there, 1508; had chambers there until made Serjeant; made King's Serjeant-at-Law, 9 May 1514; assumed, as his right as Serjeant, his seat in Parliament, 23 Nov 1514; Justice of Assize, Midland Circuit, Feb 1517; Westminster Circuit, Jul 1519; Western Circuit, Feb 1520; will dated 25 Feb 1519-20; proved Nov 1520; referred in his will to "...the heirs of Richard PIGOTT my grandfather." Thomas married 2ndly, ca 1504, Elizabeth IWARDBY (daur of John IWARDBY of Quainton Mallet, by Joan BRUDENHALL), & widow of William ELMES of Woolfox, Co Rutland (he died 1503, having had issue); she was licensed, 10 Dec 1539, to alienate the tenement called Colwyks, & certain lands in Waddesden, Quainton & Colwycks, Bucks, which had belonged to the late priory of Woborne, Beds; granted Lease of the site & demesnes of the Manor of Whaddon, 8 Jul 1540, & the herbage of the Queen's Park there (on surrender of the formal lease granted the said Elizabeth, & William PIGOTT of Horewood, by the late Queen Consort, Jane SEYMOUR, 1537); granted an annuity of 37 pounds 19s., in consideration of the Manor of Whaddon, sold to the King; her will dated 20 Nov 1548, pr 6 Nov 1549; further issue: 6.
