    3. Peter, I found your information very interesting, and its left me with a number of questions. So if anyone has an opinion on the following let me know. I found the reference to Granado Pigott as a young attorney especially interesting as my Pigotts of Ely were also solicitors/attorneys, and I've been curious to know the occupation of a couple of Granado Pigotts of Ely. What I'm wondering from your information is if this refers to not one but two Granado Pigotts - Grando Pigott or Ellis of Haddenham & Granado Pigott of Ely? My relative Richard Pigott was a solictor from Ely who married Sarah Haylock of Downham (Sarah's mother was Mary Haylock Eagle). Sarah had a sister Anne Haylock who married William Cole Jr in 1783 in Downham. Anne died in 1784. I did briefly try to find out if this William Cole jr. was the son of Rev. William Cole but I didn't want to get too sidetracked from the Pigotts. Richard Pigott had a brother called Granado. I came across a record relating to a Granado Pigott farmer & grazier (of Ely?) 1806 - ref. Familychest. In Richard's will he leaves land to his brother Granado, so I have assumed that this Granado was a farmer & grazier, but I may very well be wrong. Richard Pigott's two sons were Henry Pigott (an Ely attorney) and Granado Pigott - I haven't discovered his occupation but I thought that he might have been a farmer. Now I'm wondering if this is the young Granado Pigott of Ely that your referred to? This Granado was born in 1785 and died in 1840. I haven't found him mentioned in the early Cambridgeshire directories from the Historical Directories website. It was also interesting about your reference to manorial estates as my Pigotts were involved in manorial estates - Richard briefly owned a manor in Soham & his son Henry & Henry's daughters held the manorial rights to Little Thetford. I thought that I'd seen a reference to the occupation of Granado Pigott Ellis of Haddenham as a labourer (maybe someone can help me out with this? This is what made me think that Peter's information refers to two Granado Pigotts - Granado Pigott Ellis labourer and Granado Pigott of Ely attorney. Maybe I'm completely wrong and Granado Pigott Ellis was the attorney?? Confused Jen N.S.W.
