Hi Listers, Found on another list. Can anyone help Peter? Joe A cri de coeur. Rachel MUNDEN (named as Rachael on birth certificate) was born 3 December 1864, 26 Chapel Place, Longlane, Bermondsey. She appeared on the 1881 census as a "frilling box maker" aged 16 living with her mother, Sarah, and her siblings Edward, Rebecca and Annie (the last an adopted sister). The address has changed to 35 Chapel Place. Rachel married John Crawley PIGGOTT 24 May 1885 at St John's, Walworth, Southwark. Her resident address was given as 8 Spurgeon House, (presumably Southwark). At least two children were born of the union, John Crawley Piggott in the June quarter of 1888 and George Piggott in February of 1890. Rachel then manages to vanish. Rachel's husband, John Crawley next married one Ada Jemima Wyatt (date unknown) and, by Ada, had at least two children, Ada born June 1903 (who did not survive her first year) and Albert Edward born c 1907. Albert died in 1941. The IGI, Free BMD and each of the quarterly fiche covering deaths for the years 1890 to 1903 have been searched without success for the death of Rachel. I am at a complete loss to know where next to search. The nearest entry I have managed to find is for one Rachel Piggott dying in the 1st quarter of 1897 in the district of St Olave BUT aged 52 - my lass should, at that time, have been only 33 or thereabouts. It is, of course, possible that the given age has been mistranscribed. Can the collective wisdom of the list suggest the next move? You would have the gratitude of Rachel's descendant relatives in the far North of Scotland, Australia, England and Canada if we could find her and lay her decently to rest.
