    3. Hi List, Last month I was contacted by John O'Grady, who made us an offer that is most gracious: >On New Year’s Eve I abstracted the last of the >registrations of the Births Marriages and Deaths >for those named Pigott [and the spelling variations] for the years 1864-2008. > >The list now comprises 2,157 Births 1,185 >Marriages and 1,723 Deaths. Taking other sources >into account, there are a total of 6,500 entries >for a Pigott of Ireland listed, many of which >include births and marriages from ca.1800. > > From 1903, the index of the birth registrations > included the mother’s maiden name, so it has > been possible to prepare individual groups for > many families. In addition, I have purchased > about 70 certificates [ˆ4.00 each] to obtain > the parental details on some of those who looked most interesting. > >By analysis of the entire list, and cross >referencing with other sources such as the >recently online 1911 census, it has been >possible to obtain good information on approx. 50% of those listed. > >At present I am unsure how I can make this >information readily available to any Pigott who >might interested in their genealogy, as there >are serious and relevant privacy issues for any living person. I have discussed this generous offer with John, and here is the mechanism for exchanging information with John and accessing the mass of information that he has developed. Send this list a message titled: "Irish PIGOTT Support Requested". Include in your message the most current information concerning your PIGOTT interests. End by stating what information you hope that John can provide. In this manner we can hopefully increase the overall knowledge of the Irish PIGOTTs for current and future researchers. You can never be sure that some small piece of information that you have found and included in your records may not be an important "clue" for others. Further, I want to be sure that John has the opportunity to see your most current information in order to compare it to his records, thereby possibly contributing to his overall information base. I sure wish there was a John O'Grady researching my Marylebone PIGGOTTs. :-( Joe
