Joe, I made a mistake. In my entry on the son of Ernest PIGGOTT, I wrote: "1. Ernest Keith PIGGOTT, b Stockbridge, Hampshire, 11 Apr 1904; Jockey & Trainer; won the Champion Hurdle, U.K. National Hunt, Cheltenham, 1939, on African Sister, trained by his brother Charles..." This should instead read "...trained by his uncle Charles..." And from a CANNON pedigree on Ancestry.com, the additional details: Ernest PIGGOTT was born 19 July 1878; & his marriage took place at Stockbridge, Hampshire, on 8 Jun 1903. Regards, Chris PIGOTT.

Hi List, Here is the website that lists Montana deaths kindly provided to me by Rebecca Warner. I have extracted all of the PIG(G)OT(T) records. These include the three wives of John D. PIGGOTT. Please note the discrepancy in the death date of John's first wife Mildred M PIGGOTT, who passed away on 6/22/1965. The obituary states that she died in 1989. The obituary is obviously incorrect, in that he was already married to his second wife. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mtmsgs/death_records.htm Regards, Joe Pre 1900 Last Name, First Name, Middle, Sex, Age - Death Date - County (None) 1900-1909 Last Name, First Name Middle : Sex : Age : Death Date : Year : Index Number : Comment/Notes (None) 1910-1919 Last Name, First Name Middle : Sex : Age : Death Date : Year : Index Number : Comment/Notes (None) 1920-1929 Last Name, First Name Middle : Sex : Age : Death Date : Year : Index Number : Comment/Notes PIGGOTT, JOHN M : M : 86 : 27 Jan 1927 : Mad 466 1930-1939 Last Name, First Name Middle : Sex : Age : Death Date : Year : Index Number : Comment/Notes PIGGOTT, L V : M : 62 : 15 Oct 1933 : Hav 1488 : 1940-1949 Last Name, First Name Middle : Sex : Age : Death Date : Year : Index Number : Comment/Notes PIGOTT, WILLIAM T. : M : 82 : 18 Mar 1944 : Hel 5044 1950-1953 Last Name, First Name Middle : Sex : Age : Death Date : Year : Index Number : Comment/Notes PIGOT, ALICE L : F : 71 : 21 Jun 1953 : 198 : 1954-1959 Last Name, First Name Middle : Death Date : File Number : County PIGOTT , HARRY H : 5/29/1954 : 173 : 12: 1960-1969 Last Name, First Name, Middle - Death Date - File#, County PIGGOTT, MILDRED, M - 6/22/1965 - 2750 - 7 1970-1979 Last Name, First Name, Middle - Death Date - File#, County (None) 1980-1989 Last Name, First Name, Middle - Death Date - File#, County PIGGOTT, IRIS, G - 4/9/1984 - 1899 - 25 1990-1999 Last Name, First Name, Middle - Death Date - File#, County PIGGOTT, FRIEDA, AUGUSTA - 10/14/1998 - 6210 - 25 2000-2002 Last Name, First Name, Middle, Sex, Age - Death Date - County (None) Joe Bissett, PIGGOTT/CUMMISKEY List Administrator/Rootsweb I use America's Book CDs in my genealogical research to access otherwise unavailable primary source material. http://www.abcd-usa.com/ I support the Godfrey Memorial Library. http://www.godfrey.org/ Proud to be a member of LostCousins! http://www/LostCousins.com
Hi List, Here is the obituary. This burial has already been added to the Finda A Grave web site. Regards, Joe Helena Independent Record, Helena, MT, Piggott Jr., John D. John D. Piggott Jr., 95, a resident of Helena, for 65 years, passed away at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Helena, on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006. John Piggott was born in Lander, Wyo., on Jan. 5, 1911, the son of John Daniel Piggott Sr. and Mable (Jones) Piggott. He was the oldest of seven children. The family moved to Riverton, Wyo., when he was a young boy, and he later met and married Mildred Presgrove. Mildred and John were the parents of three daughters, Marjorie L. Heathcock of Fontana, Calif.; Dorothy A. York of Tyrone, Ga., and Virginia L. Webster of Redding, Calif. Mildred preceded him in death in 1989. His parents and five of John Piggott's siblings have preceded John in death: Martha Turner of Oregon City, Ore.; Margaret Crain of Dallas; Margery Dean Piggott, Riverton (died at at age 2); Robert Piggott of Hobbs, N.M.; and William Piggott of Northglenn, Colo. His sister, Marian Nelson, the youngest of the seven children, resides in Riverton. John moved to Helena from Riverton in 1940. He worked at the smelter in East Helena and also worked for Helena Sand and Gravel and Knapp Tire Company. He drove a cab and a city bus for many years and worked for the City of Helena, where he retired in December 1975. He and his second wife, Iris Steel Piggott, were long-time members of the Eagles' Lodge, where he played the harmonica in the minstrel band. After Iris' death in 1985, he met and married Frieda Maier Piggott, who preceded him in death in 1998. They were both members of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed singing in their choir. John was a resident at the Eagles' Manor for seven years until a fall broke his hip, causing him to be placed in a nursing home. He enjoyed playing his harmonica for the residents at Cooney Convalescent Home and Rocky Mountain Care facilities, as well as the Eagles' Manor. He was still playing his harmonica at the age of 95. When he was younger, he also had a great love for fishing and hunting. Surviving, in addition to his sister, are his three daughters, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today, Thusday, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Retz Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements. Hi List, I received the following note from Gwen concerning my posting yesterday. If anyone can help Gwen, please contact her directly, and let us know on the list. Thanks, Joe Thank you so much Joe. That will was very important to me because the witness James Stark had m. Sarah Laycock the dau of Joseph Laycock. Now, I have no idea who Edward Pigot was. Henry Crosley was minister of the Baptist Church at Knollton, Sussex Co, NJ. Tell me about Edward Pigot. He must have been a neighbor and maybe also a Baptist. The Starks and Laycocks were in that church.
