Hi Linda, Thanks once again for rising to the occassion! :-) At 04:07 AM 07/30/2007, Linda Payne wrote: >Do you have any information on Susan's husband from the marriage records? >Age, Father's name, occupation? Shame on ME !! I'm embarrassed. :-( I found the marriage in the IGI: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true Richard's parents were shown as John MONONGE and Mary GLEASON. No further information other than what I posted, showing that Richard was born in Albany. I tried searching for John and Mary as well, but found nothing on the last name. I just found that the marriage is, in fact, listed on the Italian Genealogy web site: http://www.italiangen.org/NYCBridesresults.asp?kind=exact&Esurname=piggott&Efirst=susan&CertNbr=&StartYear=1879&EndYear=1879&County=M&B1=Submit Family Name Given Name Month of Marriage Day of Marriage Year of Marriage Certificate Number County Piggott Susan Jan 14 1879 179 Manhattan There is no groom's index yet available for this date. The Italian Genealogy Group generously provides links for mail or on line ordering of certificates. I just submitted a request on line for this record. I am pleased to report that the form is simple, the process is straight forward, takes but 2 or 3 minutes, and cost only $12.00 for a CERTIFIED copy. Thank you New York!!! :-) However, as with all government entities, they state that it may take up to 6 weeks to deliver the certificate. :-( Warm regards, Joe Joe Bissett, PIGGOTT/CUMMISKEY List Administrator/Rootsweb I use America's Book CDs in my genealogical research to access otherwise unavailable primary source material. http://www.abcd-usa.com/ I support the Godfrey Memorial Library. http://www.godfrey.org/ Proud to be a member of LostCousins! http://www.LostCousins.com/

    3. Hello again Steve, I've just been adding the information you provided to my Piggott family tree. I think we may be related twice over! You mention a Caroline Sedgewick, b. 1860 in Old Brentford. My GG Grandfather, George William Piggott (Grandson of David), married a Rosa Sedgewick b.1849 in Old Brentford. Having just looked at the 1861 census, a one-year old Caroline Sedgewick is listed and living at the same address (1, Burdett's Row, Old Brentford) as Rosa, aged 12 - it appears that your Caroline is the sister of my Rosa! (I can forward you a copy of my tree if it's of interest). 3. Hello Steve, Thanks for getting back to me so promptly & for the information you've provided. So, if you you are descended from David Piggott & Elizabeth Rice, then we must be related as so am I! David was my GGGG Grandfather (I am related to him through his son George William Piggott, b.1818 in Chiswick, d. 1879, Brentford, and married to Harriet Taylor b.1826). Just out of interest, which part of the country do you live in? The vast majority of the Piggott line I've traced so far have come from the Chiswick/Brentford/Isleworth area and I'd be interested to know where any living relatives now live. I have more information on this particular branch of the Piggott family, so if I can help with your research, please let me know. Thanks again Steve, Rebecca _________________________________________________________________ Celeb spotting – Play CelebMashup and win cool prizes https://www.celebmashup.com/index2.html

    3. Hi List, It is now MY turn to ask for help. Below is the information that I hold on my GGF John Drew PIGGOTT's older brother William and family. In 1871 William emigrated to the US, followed in 1872 by Eliza and the two girls (their son William died at childbirth). While searching through marriage records, for some reason I entered Susan Piggott, and unbelievably I found her marriage recorded in January 1879 in Manhattan, NY. Her parents were listed as William and Eliza, all born in England. I have tried all of the tricks I can think of to find Richard and Susan in the 1880 census in order to enter them into Lost Cousins and to determine if there are any surviving descendents. I can find no spelling variant for Mononge, nor can I find any Susan born England married to a Richard. I'm hoping that some list member recognizes this group. 3. Hi Rebecca and Steve (and all other list members) If you have not already done so, I heartily recommend that you post ALL of your PIGGOTT and related sidelines on the Lost Cousins web site based on the transcriptions of the free 1881 UK (and Scotland and Canada) or 1880 US census records. The side lines, no matter how remote, are the KEY to finding your living "lost cousins". Most folks have already concentrated all of their tie-in efforts on their main lines, as I myself did. But the beauty of Lost Cousins is that they claim that "most" tie ins come through finding that third cousin twice removed, or great aunt, etc. I have ancestors recorded in all four sets of records, and have so far made 147 entries to the LC database. I have been rewarded by contact with six "cousins". At some point I hope to make contact with that so far elusive "cousin" who can make the solid tie-in for me between my earliest proven ancestor, William PIGGOTT m. Marylebone 1827 to Elizabeth JARVIS, and Drew PIGGOTT m. 1768 to Mary COTTRELL in Sunbury, MSX. By using the exact (including all errors) transcribed entries from the free census records, the Lost Cousins concept is brilliant !! (I only wish that I had thought of it). The data base gives you total opportunity to correct or add whatever additional information that you have developed, such as middle or maiden names, birth dates, etc. It also allows you to indicate which certificates you hold as source documents. As you add families, simply click on the SEARCH button to see if your efforts will be immediately rewarded. :-) I eagerly look forward to that moment when one of you will add that one far out "cousin", who just happens to have married a distant relative of mine. 3. Hi Linda, and Linda, Thank you very much for your responses. In relation to the first mail about A Charles Piggott from Yorkshire, I think he may have been too young. He was born 1863, and Alice was born 1872. But it is quite a co-incidence, and I understand that census information can be off by a good few years, so I will definitely look into it further. The census information on Charles and Sarah sounds really promising. The information, and ideas, you have given would fill in gaps in the jigsaw puzzle quite nicely, I think. I am going to check again the address supplied on the birth certificate. Thank you once again for looking into this for me. It's really appreciated, and I'll keep you informed as to how the search progresses. 3. Sarah, Here an 1861 Census entry which would seem to be the same Sarah Charles that I posted in the 1871 Census. Maybe it will provide more clues. If this turns out to be 'your family' keep me informed as they would fit into 'my family' . You could email me directly. Good luck. Hi Sarah, I am researching the Pigott's of Yorkshire, and I have a Charles Pigott born 1863 in Sheffield he also was an artist, although I have not done any search on this branch as yet, but was wondering could this be the same Charles in question -- did he or maybe someone else decide to add an extra "G" to his name. His parents were William Henry and Sarah ? both born in Sheffield, William was also an artist.I suppose it was possible Charles did move to London. Think it may be worth looking into. If you have anymore questions please don't hesitate to ask. 3. Hi Sarah, I'm pasting this 1871 Census entry for a Sarah Charles, she is living in Marylebone, 1 block off the boundary for St. Pancras, she was born in St. Pancras. She lives about six blocks from the Charles Peter Durant Piggott that I mentioned in my earlier post. This Sarah Charles can be found in the 1861 Census with her parents, John Charles, Draper's Assistant, born Hants parish Portsea, and Mary Ann Charles. Her brother Harry is also there, corresponding with the 1871 Census entry. 1871 England Census, London, St. Marylebone, All Souls, District 7 Bounded on the North by Foley Street, on the East the Parish Boundary dividing Pancras from Marylebone, on the South by Charles Street and on the West by Nassau Street & York Street. 1. [PIGGOTT] Search for Charles Piggott, London area

    3. Hi All, I am searching for information on a Charles Piggott. He is a bit of a mystery. On my fathers side of the tree, I have an ancestor called Alice Rosalind Charles-Piggott (sometimes written Piggott-Charles). Her mother was called Sarah Charles, and her father was Charles Piggott. This is where the mystery starts as I cannot find any information really over either mother or father. On the birth certificate, there is no father written there. Which I presume would mean that Alice was born outside of wedlock around 1872 in St. Pancras, London. Mother is specified as a Sarah Charles. In 1892 Alice married a John Thompson (also in London), and changed her name to Charles-Thompson. On the marriage certificate, I find a reference to her father. His name is registered as Charles Piggott, occupation, artist. It also says that he is deceased. However, I am unable to find a death certificate, or references in the census', etc to him. I don't know when or where Charles was born, only that he was an artist, and died somewhere before 1892. I can't seem to find any references to brothers or sisters either. So I am at a bit of a loss as to how to proceed. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance Sarah

    3. Hi Sarah, I searched on internet and found a 1993 sale at Sotheby's of the following piece of art by Charles Piggot: http://www.artnet.com/Artists/LotDetailPage.aspx?lot_id=9236B23E13B9352E This listing does not give a date for the work of art but it would seem to have been done about the right time. I am trying to find more information on this artist. There is a Charles Peter Durant Piggott in my research who was born in All Souls, Marylebone, London, September 28, 1851. I have not found any mention of him as an artist but in the 1871 Census he is a 19 year old living with his widowed mother and his school master brother. Living in the same building, next door to them, is the artist William Henry Midwood. Charles could have been been exposed to this influence. I am pasting the transcription of this census entry below. Some works by William Henry Midwood can be seen at: http://www.myartprints.co.uk/UK/artist/William-Henry-Midwood-4675.html 1871 Census RG 10/154 Folio 28, p. 50 Civil parish: St Marylebone, Ecclesiastical parish: Trinity, Town: London County/Island: London, Country: England Registration district: Marylebone, Sub-registration district: All Souls ED: 15, Household schedule number: 369 31 Bolsover Street Harriet Ellis Head W. 64 Housekeeper Suffolk - Beccles James " Son Unm 28 Cab driver Middlesex - Brompton Henry " Son Unm. 24 Carman " " Charles Wakeling Head mar 63 Window Blind maker's porter Bucks - St. Marlow Mercy " Wife " 67 Berks - Windsor Susannah Piggott Head W 58 Nil Suffolk - Felixstowe William " Son Unm 32 Schoolmaster Middlesex - Marylebone Robert " Son Unm 23 Clerk " " Charles " Son Unm 19 porter " " William H.
