    3. Thank you for the information. I just asked my mom about Shanghai Pierce, she remembers stories about him. Take some poking to get her memory going at times. Much of the material I have is from my ggreat Aunt Callie (Caldora Rhoades) journal when her family fled Texas. She was about 12 or 14. Alamagordo might be Alvarado. Which is the name or place of the plantation my gg-grandmother lived on for awhile. She passed along stories of the family having many slaves during those times. My moms comments on this section that you wrote; "Shanghi travelled from galveston to austin and then to Dodge City Ks and Amarillo area many times this route (the chisolm trail) took him right through the Pierce Ranch at Kimbell Bend in Bosque County Tx (Now Johnson County) the ranch was called Goatneck" She said that during one of those trips is where something really bad happened that is why my ggreat-grandfather left Texas. The children of George and Sarah Pierce Rhoades were born in three different places in Texas, both east and west. Caldora Ann Rhoades (Callie), b. September 06, 1879, Selma, Texas; Thomas Jefferson Rhoades b. April 23, 1882, Waldrip, Tom Greene County, Texas; Elizabeth Ellen Rhoades (Bessie Booth) b. April 23, 1886, Brownsborrow, Texas; Adolph Pierce Rhoades (Floyd), b. February 08, 1890, Hope, Eddie, New Mexico.
