Hello Hugh, I was hoping some scholar on this matter would present himself or herself and solve this mystery. I am still confused on the matter, but here is what I have: a. From the will of Capt. Michael Pierce: " ...four acres of meadow land in Hingham aforesaid which my father James gave unto my said son Ephraim..." b. I found a English parish (Kent) birth record on micro fiche at an LDS Family History Center stating a Michael Pierce was born in 1615 whose father was Richard c. Curiously, FC Pierce's, 1889 book, Pierce Genealogy, Being the Record of the Posterity of Capt. Michael, John and Capt. William Pierce, etc does not mention their parents. d. Even more curious, FC Pierce's 1888 book, Pearce Genealogy, Being the Record of the Posterity of Richard Pearce, of Portsmouth in Rhode Island, etc states that Richard Pearce, Jr. (b. 1590) was the brother of Capt. William Pearce, (b. abt 1595 d. Jul 13, 1641) killed by Spanish canon fire in the Bahamas. Richard and Williams ancestors are traced through the noble Percy family of England back to some Vikings that settled in Normandy in 970 or so. e. I have seen several GEDCOMs tracing Capt. William Pierce through this same Percy family with no reference as to how they connected the two families. I have more information on Capt. Michael Pierce, his battlefield and the location of his house, etc. I have not been able to locate his grave, maybe because the Indians that killed him would not allow access to the battlefield for the burial of him and his men. I know that he came from England but do not know anything about his ancestors. Hopefully, someone has the requested info. I would greatly appreciate hearing whatever you may know. Thanks HUGH M.
