Although I wasn't able to find your Jane E. Pierce, I think you are on the right track. The book I have is no where near complete but I do have relatives in Peru, Clinton Co. My great great grandfather founded the town. As it is a small town in the Adirondacks it is highly unlikely that two families with the same name are not related, It is a large volume but I searched every Jane in it. My great great grandfather had a daughter Jane but she died at the age of 9. It is quite possible that your Jane was named for her, either by an uncle or brother. Good luck. Marion PIerce Avery
