In case you're wondering how this pertains, my Pearce line married into a Cherokee line. :-) I recently subscribed to the ITROOTS-L list at rootsweb. I posted my Cherokee rolls/list query to the ITROOTS list at the same time that I posted here. It is a list which is allegedly for NatAm genealogy research). I posted it to 3 lists, because it pertains to ALL 3 LISTS. I got back a very strange, rather snotty message from the ITROOTS-L list owner. She told me that my query, about web sites for certain Native American census, was inappropriate for her mailing list. She says, unless a message pertains to NOTHING other than the ITROOTS list, it can't be posted there. She would have been REALLY ticked off if she'd known I posted the query to a couple of newsgroups, as well. ;-) Among other things, she says: >>I am VERY concerned about another thing-- your message below. One of the >>rules on Indian Territory Roots is that if the message is not important >>enough to send it to our list ALONE, then we don't want it! She went into greater detail (read tirade), but none of the spheel was more logical than the above. I can't think of a single topic that pertains to that list ONLY. What a strange rule. Does anyone know of an American Indian mailing list, which is genuinely there to help the Native American genealogy researcher?? ITROOTS is obviously not designed for that purpose. :-) acp ******* "Too many stupid people. Too few comets." ******** *********************************************************************** * A.
