Hello Everybody! I am at a brickwall with my husband's great great grandfather's birthplace & parentage. Reuel A. PIERCE was b. abt. 1811 somewhere in Vermont. By abt. 1831 he was a squatter farmer in Fitzroy Twp., Carleton County (near Ottawa), Ontario, Canada. In 1836 he married Ontario born Margaret McLEOD. One of their children, Emmaline PIERCE, was mentioned in a book of local history with "U.E.L" beside her name. I do not know which of her parents was of Loyalist descent - Reuel or Margaret?
