I meant to include this in the original message but forgot. Before posting, I did search the PIERCE-L archives for all references to Greene County, Tennessee. I found numerous references to a Nancy Ann Pierce who was born in 1863 in Greene County, and to a James Pierce who was born in Virginia and died in 1833 in Greene County. Those messages were all very suggestive, but the 1863 Nancy Ann Pierce couldn't be my Nancy Ann Pierce who was born in 1839, and the James Pierce who died in 1833 couldn't be the father of my Nancy Ann Pierce who was born in 1839.
