Howdy All, I am trying to locate some proof about the Confederate Service of Robert C. Pierce of Jackson County, Alabama. His father was Solomon B. Pierce. Robert, who was generally called Rob, wrote a letter home to his wife during the war in which he said that he was still serving in the 15th Tennessee Infantry, but that he was going to try to get a transfer to either the 4th (4th what?), or Smith's Cavalry. According to the family, he died during the war, and his widow remarried a man named McKay. I looked in Broadfoot's Roster of Confederate soldiers for anyone of this name, and found no Pierce (or Pearce) in the 15th Tennessee, or any unit that looked like any of those listed in the letter. Does anyone out there have anything on this Robert Pierce? Jim Dark Arlington, Texas
