    1. [PIERCE-L & Variants ] Pearce Coat of Arms

    3. Hi, In my wanderings at the Renaissance Fair over the years, I have picked up 5 different Pearce (England, Wales, and Ireland) and one Percy Coat of Arms. Any thoughts on the relevance of these and their application to various Pearce groups???? The Percy one has a yellow shield with alternating Red and White blocks around the outside of the shield with a side silhouette view of a lion standing on his hind legs in the center. On top of the shield is the traditional Knight's helmet with the same lion figure on top of it The England Pearce coat of arms has a white shield with a side view of a lion on its hind legs looking toward you. There are 3 silhouettes of a bug in the top of the shield. On top of the shield is the traditional Knight's helmet with the same lion figure on top of it. The Wales Pearce coat of arms has a black shield with a "Mural Crown between two lions passant" in the center, 2 lions standing on 3 feet on the top and 2 cross like figures on the bottom. On top of the shield is the traditional Knight's helmet with the same crown and cross figure on top of it. The Ireland Pearce Coat of arms is the one on our web page. The shield has the heads of 3 dog like animals on it. On top of the shield is the traditional Knight's helmet with a bird on top of it A copy I got from one of our associates uses Mac Piarais for the family name. Another one I have has only the picture of the shield. It has the heads of 3 unicorns with a chevron between them. The shield in this one is in 4 sections, 2 have 3 "heraldic roses, stalked and leaved" and the other 2 have 3 ravens. The knights helmet on top has a single raven sitting on it. 3. each "family" had their own - these were not just for Pierce, Pearce, etc to incorporate a surname - it was based on individual family and their bravery patterns, lifestyles, etc. It is not a one fit all scenario although in some cases there were only one if the family was small - I believe it was "son of honor" that received these coas. I have an email somewhere that explained all this, I'll see if I can dig that up.
