I think there's been a misunderstanding. The objection to the recent listing on the other "Pearce" list had to do with re-posting someone else's message, without their permission or knowledge. It was more of an etiquette/privacy issue than a breaking of a set of written rules from Rootsweb. I've been quoted before on another list, and the person who used my post asked me before she forwarded it to another list. I appreciated that and gave my permission for her to do that. I've also found things that I've sent out posted on other sites and attributed to another researcher, which was a little unnerving (they had gotten the information wrong, too, and I had to have that coordinator correct it!) I guess the "etiquette" part is important so that the original poster won't feel awkward or hesitant to post again. And remember...the messages you send out today are archived, and can be read generations from now by OUR descendents. What will they think?
