Joseph A. b. abt. 1864 Sarah C. n/a William Alfred married Elizabeth Pearce, b. abt. 1857, she went by Lizzy, d. abt. 1935. They lived in Kahletown, Jefferson county PA, outside of Sigel PA. Their children were: William Stanley, b. Mar. 1888 Mame b, 1887 Mary E. Pierce b. abt. 1886 (Evans) her daughter: Iva E. MI. May 1887 >From San323@aol.com Nov. 14, 2002 It's been awhile since I put an inquiry on so will try again in hopes someone might know this fella. I'm searching for WILLIAM PIERCE [don't know if he had a middle initial and just have his birth month & year to go by. Our Wm. was the son of James E. & Almeta [Baker] Pierce. He was born in Michigan, north of Grand Rapids, in May 1887. His father workied in the logging industry possibly around Osceola and Muskegon counties, and his mother worked as a servant. William and his only sister Pearl Almeta Pierce lived with their maternal grandmother in 1900. Later Wm. lived with his great uncle Wm. Baker and when he was about sixteen he said he was going to California. Grandma Pearl never mentioned a brother so don't know if she just didn't know where he was or what. She married after he left and she later moved to the sourthern part of the state so he wouldn't have known where she was or her married name. I checked the LDS site and sent to Los Angeles for death record of one Wm. Pierce b. May 1887 but it wasn't our Wm. William's father was a tall slender man with lt. brown hair so he might have looked similiar. Would like to hear from anyone who thinks he sounds familiar. We'd like to know what happened to him. Thanks, Sandy P. ______________________________ > ATTACHMENT part 3 message/rfc822 Date: Thu, 14 Nov 2002 19:52:30 -0600 From: "Mary Holmes" To: PIERCE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [PIERCE-L & Variants ] My name is Whitney Anderson and I am doing research on my father's side of the family. I wrote to a John MacMillan, and he referred me to you. I think that we may have a relative in common. Was Almira Nickerson's middle name Worthington? If so, then does the name Viola Bates Nightingale sound familiar? She was my great grandmother. At the age of 16, she married a man by the name of Pierce. They had three children before he died at the age of 36 while out at sea. My grandmother, Marian, was their first child. Then there was Helen and then William. After their father's death, those three kids were sent to live with relatives in Nova Scotia for a couple of years. My great aunt Helen is still living and has filled me in on some of the family history. If ANY of this sounds familar to you, I would love to hear from you. I had a grandmother whose maiden name was Almira Nickerson Pierce, but I have no idea if the middle nmae you have askekd about was hers. You did not give me your mailing address so I hope you will read this message. Nitingale was a name of one of my Uncle's wives, but she died and ne was not a seaman.
