Does anyone researching the PIERCE surname have a family connection to the GILMORE surname? I believe my GGgrandfather PIERCE married Ann GILMORE in either 1870 or 1871. They had one son together born 24 March 1872. He was named James Samuel PIERCE. Unfortunately James' father never met his father. It is believed he passed away in the Chicago fire of 1871. In the 1870 census Ann GILMORE was living in the Town of Lisbon, WI. She returned to live in the Town of Lisbon, WI with her son around 1875-1876. I have not been able to find any information for the time in between 1870 and 1876 other than the baptism of James Samuel PIERCE which occurred on the 31 May 1872 in Amherst, OH (a small town near Elyria, OH). I have searched for James' birth record without success. I do not know the first name of his father. I have hit a dead end. Can anyone help me out of this situation? Lorrie Schneck@charter.net
