>Jerry, this appears to be the same family tho the census did read >"Elizabeth". I also double-checked the places of birth. >1870 7th Dist, ROMEO P O, Greene Co, TN >Page 244A 30 Sept 1870 >Line 2 104/104 >Claudous Cox 23 MW TN Farm Labor 500 pers prop >Martha 21 FW ILL Keeping House ----- >1870 7th Dist, ROMEO P O, Greene Co, TN Page 245B >1 Oct 1870 >Line 22 132/132 >James Pearce 68 MW TN Farmer 2000 land 1000 pers prop >Elizabeth 49 FW IND Keeping House >Thomas 25 MW Farm Labor TN >Newton 17 TN >Mathew 15 TN >Sarah M. 13 TN >Matilda 10 TN >Daniel 7 TN Hmm. I think there are (at least) two possibilities. One possibility is that "Experience" was written down as "Elizabeth". The age is about right. The other possibility is that James E. Pierce married for a fourth time. There is a Greene County marriage, James Peerce to Elizabeth Cruraty, 13 Aug 1865. Given that Daniel Pierce was born about 1863, that suggests that Experience (Spriddy) Wells, third wife of James Pierce and the mother of Claudius Cox, might have died 1863/1865. Of course, I cannot prove that this James Peerce was my James E. Pierce who married first Anny Green, married second Mary Doty, and married third Experience Wells.
