I don't know if Holly Snead has published any of her research on the Pearce family. My wife, Marie, and I are interested in obtaining any information you have about our Pearce family, who are descended from John Pearce (Mason) of Portsmouth and Prudence Island, Rhode Island. With reference to Sally Pearce. We visited Tyringham, Berkshire County, Massachusetts and Climax, Kalamazoo County where she lived, to find information about her. In Tyringham, Mass she was called "Crooked Sally" because she had some kind of a deformity. Sarah (Sally) Pearce was the daughter of Lawrence Southcotte Pearce, and Lettice Austin. She had three children: ( l ) - William (Billy) Pierce, died Aug 7, 1875, Climax, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. The Reference Library, Kalamazoo, Michigan, V 1-2, Index of Deaths L-Z (1675 -1901, H87-12, has the following information in it regarding William Pierce: Mentally deficient, Death Record, Kalamazoo County, Male, White, Single, age 82 years, 29 days. Died of old age. Born Rhode Island. Idiot from birth, Place of Death, Climax, Book 1, Page 122 0f Roll #984129. ( 2 ) - Benjamin Stanton Pearce, born Aug 28, 1805, Tyringham, MA. Died May 31, 1889. Buried Wheatfield , Niagara County, New York Married Vashti Milliman. Vital records at Tyringham, Massachusetts, an illegitimate son of Sarah Pearce, born at Tyringham, August 28th AD 1895. ( 3 ) - Parvis C. Pearce, born May 23, 1817, Geneseo, Livingston County, New York. Died Jan 27, 1892, Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Buried Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Married Eliza Kelly, Sept 28, 1842, in Niagara County, New York. Death records, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, Book 2, Page 128, No. 1136. Paris C. Pearce, male, white, married, age 74 years, 9 months, 5 days, died at Climax, of Pneumonia resulting from La Grippe. Born New York. Father unknown, mother Sallie Pearce. Father's residence was New York. Recorded June 1, 1893. Probate: Will, Kalamazoo County Record 1/30/1892, file 4426, estate, roll 145, Item 108. With reference to Bertha Mae Pearce, the daughter of Abraham Lincoln Pearce and Mary Lavina Kilbourn, I have the following information: Bertha Mae Pearce, born Nov 16, 1910, in Climax Towneship, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Died Nov 18, 1961, Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan, buried Prairie Home Cemetery, Kalmazoo County, Michigan. Married Mar 10, 1928, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Charles Raymond Guile, the son of Charles David Guile and Emily M. Dowding. Ch arles Raymond Guile died Oct 23, 1987, in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. He is buried at Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax, Kalamazoo County, Michigan; Her second husband, Robert E. Guile died, in Dec, 1985. Her Social Security Number is 381-18-7403, issued in Michigan, she applied March 28, 1939, at age 29, residing at 69 Jewel, Battle Creek, Michigan. There is an obit notice in the "Lawrence Memorial Library", Climax, Michigan, from the "Climax Crescent", No. 44, Climax, Michigan, dated Oct 30, 1987 She had three children from her lst husband, Charles Raymond Guile: (1) Norma Jean Guile, born Sep 1, 1928, in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, who married Robert Cook, Sept 25, 1944 (Divorced). (2) Louis Edward Guile, born Nov 13, 1932, died Sept 12, 1998, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Married Phyllis Martin. (3) Delores Geraldine Guile, born May 8, 1936, in Battle Creek, Michigan who married Frederick Thielman, Apr 30, 1965. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
