On his death cert. it says he was born in Derby Ct. Also on his death cert it says his father was Franklin and mother Betsy Colvert. I don't believe Derby Ct. is correct so I don't know if his parents are. When Franklin Arthur was very young his mother died. His father remarried to a women who had a son younger than Franklin Arthur. They moved to Canada where Franklin Arthur got his education. Sometime between 1872-1878 Franklin Arthur moved to Michigan. He married 1st wife, Ida Mae Blackman in Standish. She died in child birth and he married Lucinda Umphrey( Charles and mother Betsy Pierce) were witnesses for the wedding). They lived in Prescott Michigan. He was the first supervisor of Prescott and started the 1st newspaper I have reseached in Derby Ct. and Mass and cannot find anything on Franklin Arthur Pierce. Any help would be gratefully appreciated Linda Benzin NJ ______________________________ > ATTACHMENT part 8 message/rfc822 Date: Sun, 2 Mar 2003 17:59:47 EST From: EllieSS@aol.com To: PIERCE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [PIERCE-L & Variants ] Census taking dates, 1790 - 1910 Subj: Census taking dates, 1790 - 1910 I am sure many of you have viewed a census and wondered when it was taken .. trying to verify an age or birthdate, etc.... >From the NARA publication, c. 1982, p. 38, I found the following..
