    3. Holly: We have corresponded before. I am sorry it took so long to answer you, but my computer has been giving me trouble. Regarding the children of Benoni Pearce that married Mehitable Walker. You have his son, Nathan, marrying Rebecca Chase. Nathan Pearce, son of Benoni Pearce, married Clarissa Harlow Phelps. His children were: Anna, William, William, Oliver, Clarissa, Oliver, John, and Edwain. I have Nathan Pearce's birth records, death records, and marriage records. Also newspaper articles from Cumberland County, N.C. regarding Nathan Pearce's death, and the death of his wife, Clarissa Harlow (Phelps) Pearce. A number of Benoni Pearce's children left Providence, R.l. and went to N.C. including my ancestors, Daniel Pearce, who married his first counsin, Anstis Pearce. Anstis Pearce was the daughter of Benoni Pearce. Also in Benoni's Pearce's will, in Providence, R.I., he left money to all of my direct ancestors in N.C. I do not have the name "Parce" in any of my records. In the will of John Pearce (Mason), he also referred to himself and his children as "Pears", "Pars", and "Parse". His wife, Mary, only used the name Pearce. Some of the earlier Pearce families spelled their name "Peirce" Most of them who spelled their name "Peirce" lived in East Greenwich, R.I. Some of the children in later years changed their name from Pearce to Pierce. I have several different versions of where John Pearce (The Mason) came from, and who his brothers were, but none of them can be verified. Our family tradition is that they came from Wales. You mentioned that they arrived in Boston, Mass, and that the father died on board ship. This information comes from a booklet entitled "The Lights and Shadows of Pawling, New York", by Nathaniel Pearce, who lived in Pawling, New York, and did research on some of the people of Pawling, New York. The only problem was that he willed all his research to various family members instead of to a library. I located part of his research at the Atkins Library, Quaker Hill, Dutchess County, N.Y. I would like to get any info you have regarding the Pearce famiy. Best Regards, Jim Pearce Nuevo, Calif.

    1. [PIERCE-L] Pierce Project - New England/New York
    2. Greetings all, It has been a while since I have posted to the list. I have been working on this project for over 3 years and want to make sure that everyone is aware of the information that is available on these web pages. I have gathered data from the vital records, genealogies, histories, etc. and alpabetized them and then linked to the genealogies where I could. I also set up "Other States" pages for Pierces that moved from the New England/New York states. I hope that you will take advantage of this information and that it may help some of you with your road blocks. I am also willing to do a little looking for you if you know your ancestors were in New England but you can't find them on the web pages. I do have data that is not on the web pages. I also welcome submissions of data to add to web pages if they are sourced. Happy hunting to all and may you all have success.
