And, please, if you have any corrections or additional information for this...please let me know. Thanks. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett (See the following information) In this BARHAM CHRONOLOGY for which I have provided the link at the top of the page and the url, there are many, many connections to the MYRICK family. If you put this page into a file and then do a search on the page for the various names you will find much. One entry for Owen MIRICK spelling is the following: << *Southampton Order Book 1 1751, March 14 - Will if Timothy THORPE probated. Dated December 2, 1750 Daughter, Margaret, wife of James Bruce - negro girl Gilley Daughter, Mary, wife of Owen Mirick, 1 shilling >> and re: John MIRICK << 1760, September 10 - Timothy Thorpe, 40 acres W. Side of 3 creeks adjacent John MIRICK, James BARHAM.>> and << 1773, May 13 - Estate of John Myrick appraised by James BARHAM, Solomon DELOACH, Henry APPLEWHAITE.>> First of all, before I forget to go back to it, this Henry APPLEWHAITE would be a descendant of the Henry APPLEWHAITE, Jr., born: Bet. 1680-1690, md: Ann MARSHALL, parents of Priscilla APPLEWHAITE, born: Bet. 1710-1720, md: Bef. April 27, 1741 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, who married Nathaniel RIDLEY, II/Jr., born: Abt. 1698 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, died: Aft. October 20, 1758 in Southampton County, Virginia, who was the son of Elizabeth DAY, born: Aft. 1679 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and husband, (Captain) Nathaniel RIDLEY, Sr./I, born: Bef. 1679 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. Elizabeth DAY was the daughter of Mary THOMPSON, (daughter of William THOMPSON,) and Mary's husband, James DAY, II/Jr., born: in ? in Isle of Wight county, Virginia, died: Aft. August 10,.1700 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, son of Mary BENNETT and (Captain) James DAY, Sr./I, born: in ? in England, died: Bef. 1668 in Virginia, and this BENNETT family married frequently into MYRICK and connecting lines as did the APPLEWHAITE/APPLEWHITE and DAY and THOMPSON families. (I don't know positively but I would suspect that this John MYRICK is the John MYRICK/MIRICK who was the son of the aforementioned Mary THORPE and Owen MYRICK/MIRICK and I show this John MYRICK/MIRICK born: Abt. 1735 and the Timothy THORPE mentioned is probably the Timothy THORPE, Jr., born: Abt. 1710, who was the brother of Mary THORPE and this Timothy THORPE, Jr. married Martha "Patsey" PETERSON in 1733 and while I don't know the names of Martha's parents there were many PETERSON and PEARSON/PERSON marriages inclusive of the PETERSON family group that was probably out of Isle of Wight County, Virginia that married into my LOTT family out of Isle of Wight County and in it there was the marriage of John PETERSON, Jr., born: 1790 in Effingham County, Georgia which later became Bulloch County in 1802, who married Elizabeth LOTT, born: April 25, 1793 in Bulloch County, Georgia, who was the daughter of Judith Delilah/Delia JONES, born: May 1771 in Orangeburg(h) District, South Carolina, died: 1848 in Telfair County, Georgia, and married on February 14, 1790 in Barnwell County, South Carolina, and husband, Mark LOTT, born: January 22, 1769 in St. George's Parish which I believe was in Effingham County, Georgia, died: November 01, 1813 in Telfair County, Georgia or 1812 in Montgomery County, Georgia, and married on February 14, 1790 in Barnwell County, South Carolina. This Mark LOTT was the son of Sarah "Sallie" LIGHTFOOT, Abt. 1748 in Duplin County, North Carolina, died: August 01, 1818 in Tattnall County, Georgia or Washington County, Mississippi, and John (4) LOTT, IV, (RS,) born: Abt. 1742 in Duplin County, North Carolina, died: August 01, 1810 in Montgomery County, Georgia, who was the brother of my paternal 4th great grandfather, Absalom LOTT, born: Abt. 1758 probably in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, died: Abt. 1828 in Mississippi, and they were the sons of the John (3) LOTT, III that was married to Bethany ? whom some believe is the same person as Elizabeth JOYNER, born: Abt. 1720 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, who married John (2) LOTT, Jr., born: Bef. or Abt. 1720 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia who was probably the son of another John LOTT, born: Abt. 1680 in Isle of Wight Co., VA; however, some feel that the mother of John (4) LOTT, IV and Absalom LOTT who was Bethany ? is a separate person than Elizabeth JOYNER and that this Bethany ? married John (3) LOTT who was the son of Elizabeth JOYNER and John (2) LOTT, Jr., son of John (1) LOTT, Sr., born: Abt. 1680 in Isle of Wight county, Virginia and then there is also the possibility that Bethany ? was the 2nd wife of the John (2) LOTT, Jr. who married Elizabeth JOYNER. This lineage is pretty well sorted out except for the Bethany ? vs Elizabeth JOYNER question. And the Solomon DeLOACH mentioned above is probably the Solomon DeLOACH, born: Abt. 1712, died: Abt. 1797, md: Abt. 1740, who married Lucy BARHAM, born: Abt. 1720, died: Abt. 1790, who was the daughter of Sarah JUDKINS, born: Abt. 1710, (daughter of Martha ? and John JUDKINS,) and Charles BARHAM, born: Abt. 1706, died: Abt. 1791, md: 1727, (son of Elizabeth CLARKE and Robert BARHAM, born: 1678 in Virginia, died: 1759 in Southampton County, Virginia, (son of Elizabeth RIDLEY, born: Bet. 1624-1658, died: Abt. 1694 in Virginia, and Charles BARHAM, born: Bet. 1624-1658, died: January 1682/83 in Virginia. This BARHAM married into the NEWSUM and MYRICK and HARRIS families more than once as well into other connecting families. And this Solomon DeLOACH was the son of Jane GRIFFITH/GRIFFETH and Michael DESLOGES, Sr./aka DeLOACH/aka DeLOCHE/etc. who were the ancestors for the DeLOACH family group that married into my PIERCE family that with Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE, born: 1790 in 96th District, South Carolina, also married into the McCRACKEN - WILSON family that married into the PIERCE with Elizabeth McCRACKEN, (daughter of Elizabeth WILSON and David McCRACKEN, (RS,) whose daughter, Elizabeth McCRACKEN, married George PIERCE who was the brother of Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE and they were the children of Hugh PIERCE, (RS,) born: Abt. 1749 in Frederick County, Virginia, (where my EARLE family was about the same time,) who married my paternal 5th great grandmother, (Cherokee,) Sophia/Sofia HUNTER/aka TOTER/TOATER/aka possibly BOWLES. Something very interesting to me is the Jane GRIFFITH/GRIFFETH, (daughter of Rowland/Roland GRIFFITH/GRIFFETH,) that married Michael DESLOGES/DeLOACH, Sr. as it is entirely possible that she is related to the Sage GRIFFITH, aka GRIFFETH, born: 1521 in Bodorgan, Anglesey, Wales, who was the daughter of James GRIFFITH/GRIFFETH and his wife, Maud LLOYD. Sage GRIFFITH/GRIFFETH I'm sure you remember married John MEYRICK, I, born: Abt. 1513 in Llandachya/Llandegai?, Wales, died: Aft. November 30, 1538 in Anglesey, Wales, who was the son of our first of the surname MEURIG/MEYRICK/MERRICK/MYRICK ancestral name, Meurig ap Llewellyn/Llewelyn/aka Meyrick ap Llewellyn/Llewelyn, born: 1483 in Anglesey, Wales, died: 1538 in Bodorgan, Anglesey, Wales, and his wife who was Margaret/Margared verch Rowland/Roland/(Syr) Rowland/Roland. So, considering the names of GRIFFITH/GRIFFETH and the given name of Rowland/Roland I seriously think that there may be further connections for the GRIFFITH/GRIFFETH that married into the DESLOGES/DeLOACH that wound up marrying extensively into the MYRICK and connecting families and the GRIFFITH/GRIFFETH that married into the ROWLAND/ROLAND connection that married into the MEURIG/MEURIC/MEYRICK/MERRICK/MYRICK family lineage. This DeLOACH family also married into the KUYKENDALL/KUKENDAHL/etc. family and many of them moved into and through Mississippi and into Texas in the 1800s at the time that my PIERCE - MYRICK family stayed in Mississippi. Also, this DeLOACH family married into the GOODWIN family that married into the MYRICK family. And just the other day for the first time I saw a mention of (Governor) Huey Pierce LONG and (Governor) Earl LONG being descendants of George PIERCE. For sometime now I have suspected that they were related to my MYRICK - PIERCE family group but didn't know for sure nor how. My uncle, W. Spencer MYRICK, began his political career working for (Governor) Huey Pierce LONG and later Spencer was Senator and also he and my Dad worked for (Governor) Earl LONG. Still have to put those pieces into place but the other day someone mentioned that the connecting LANG family that married into BENTON that married into MYRICK may also be of the LONG spelling. And I don't know about the Elizabeth CLARKE mentioned above but I have descendance from Robert CLARKE/CLERKE who was born in Abt. 1688 in the area that became Edgecombe County, North Carolina...was that Bertie or Bath? and he married Jean ? and they were the parents of my paternal 5th great grandmother, Hannah CLARKE/CLERKE, who married Jacob UNDERWOOD, parents of Sarah "Sally" UNDERWOOD who married Lewis Lamkin HATTEN who were the parents of my 3rd great grandfather, William HATTEN, born: January 01, 1800 in Tar River, Nash County, North Carolina, who married Frances Lucretia "Patsy" LOTT, born: Abt. 1802 in Alabama, who is the descendant of the HARRIS - JOYNER family that married into the MYRICK, GREEN, GRAYE and other connecting lines as well as the HATTEN and LOTT families married into the MYRICK and other connecting families in Mississippi including the PERSON/PEARSON mentioned earlier. and << *York Co., Va. Order Book 4, 1774-1784, p. 423 1783, December 24 - William BARHAM, wife Sarah, of Sussex, to BARHAM NEWSUM of Southampton - 247 L - 399 acres on Hornet Swamp adjacent to William Myrick, James Cornet, George Hoguewood, Rattlesnake Branch. (Part in Sussex, part in Southampton) Witnesses: William Myrick, Joel Newsum, John BARHAM, Howell Harris Proved by Howell Harris and Joel Newsum >> The aforementioned William MYRICK is probably the William MYRICK, born: 1743 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, md: January 16, 1772 in Southampton County, Virginia, (son of Anne THOMPSON and John MYRICK,) who married into the aforementioned BARHAM - NEWSUM family with his marriage to Lucy NEWSUM. Also, on this website there is mention of a BARROW family group and the name BARROW comes up often enough in conjunction with the MYRICK family group that I am constantly wondering whether or not this BARROW family was another name for the BARLOW family group that also married into the MYRICK - HERRINGTON - GRANTHAM - PARKER - AMMONS - STUCKEY - HOWELL - DICKENS - GRAVES - COPELAND - LOTT?/MIDDLETON? family that I descend from. There are quite a few other items on this website but I will stop for now. Okay, that's all for now. Bellinda

    2. I have a Jonathan Olmstead Pierce born 1797. He lived in central Ny madison county. His parents were Anna Olmstead and Benjamin Pierce. These folks came from Ct. Jonathan's grandfather was William Pierce. My Jonathan was a baby during the 1800 census, but there were not too many Pierces in central New York at this time so they may have been related somewhere....Jodi

My name is Bellinda MYRICK - BARNETT and, as with the other post that I sent yesterday on McCRACKEN, I don't descend directly, (that I know of yet,) from the McCRACKEN lineage, but my PIERCE family married into the McCRACKEN with the marriage of George PIERCE, (brother of my 3rd gr. grandmother, Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE,) and George PIERCE married Elizabeth McCRACKEN, daughter of Elizabeth WILSON and David (2) McCRACKEN, Jr., (RS.) George PIERCE's family was among those in the extended PIERCE - McCRACKEN - KUYKENDAHL/KURKENDALL/ etc. - DeLOACH - GOODWIN - MYRICK family group that went into East Texas with many settling in Rusk County including the mother of Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE and George PIERCE. And some of the ROBERTS that I have in my main file married into the McCRANEY/McRANEY - DICKENS/DICKINS - GRAVES - LOTT?/MIDDLETON? - HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON - MYRICK - COPELAND - STUCKEY - GRANTHAM family group that I also descend from. I'm looking through my main FTM file right now while I'm writing and looking at ROBERTS I am finding the following fragmented pieces of ROBERTS information that I believe fit together but just haven't studied the ROBERTS to know how. 2. o In a dusty old book store in Medford, Oregon, I found and bought a PERCEY family Bible. The Bible was published in 1843 by Luther Roby in Concord, New Hampshire. The surnames in the Bible are PERCEY, WILSON, REYNOLDS, GARDNER, HOLLENBECK, and WIKES. The family dates go back as far as 1812. The entries do not give locations of births or deaths. I would be glad to unite this Bible with descendants for the cost of purchase and shipping. Please refer to 1843 Bible in subject line. Maurine Spahnle LeBlanc gleblanc@terragon.com

    3. CORN, PAULINE PIERCE (#751) Papers, 1879-1970; 4 boxes Pauline Pierce Corn, writer and genealogist, was born in Austell, Georgia on 6 December, 1896, the daughter of Wilde Lovick and Zula Lewis Pierce. The Pierce's were an established and venerated family of Methodist ministers from Georgia. George Foster Pierce, Pauline Corn's paternal grandfather was President of Emory College from 1848-1854. The Pauline Pierce Corn papers document the early life of Pauline Pierce Corn, specifically her engagement to Dr. Ernest Corn, and her intense, life-long passion for genealogical research. Included in the collection is a small diary kept by Corn in 1919 when she was 23 years old. http://web.library.emory.edu/libraries/speccolls/guides-women-diaries.ht ml I wonder if anybody has been thru these boxes of papers of Pauline pierce at emory library?? 3. Is anybody related to this family??? He is one of texas most famous pierces I have always wondered who Geo W Pierce Sr's father was. for more info go to google and type in george w pierce and lots of info comes up there are pages about him in the new handbook of tx too When George Washington Pierce senior sired his first son by his second wife Mary in 1872, he named him George Washington as well. But in adult life, the son never affixed "junior" to his name. In 1880, when George the son was eight, the town nearest their Texas farm was Webberville, a community of about 200 on the banks of the Colorado River some fifteen miles east of Austin. [1] Pierce's early life was not much different from that of thousands of other farm boys of the same time and place. Cattle and cotton were the two great staples of rural Texas, and in later years Pierce expressed a hearty disdain for the type of manual labor he was obliged to do in his youth. Shucking corn and watering mules with a leaky bucket was not his idea of how he wanted to spend the rest of his life. [2] He manifested his outstanding intellectual gifts in both languages and mathematics early and won an academic medal in the fifth grade of the new elementary school at Taylor, a town twenty miles north of Webberville where his family moved about 1883. The Austin City Directory for 1895-96 lists "Pierce, James, stockman" and "Pierce, George W., stockman" at separate residences. In the 1897-98 city directory, James B. Pierce is operating a meat market next door to his residence at 1511 E. 6th. St., where his brother Benjamin joined him in business as listed at the same location in the 1910-11 city directory. I thank Pam Stephan for researching this information. This info is from this page http://txtell.lib.utexas.edu/stories/p0003-article.html LD Pierce P.O. 3. Hello. I am currently researching my grandfather's family. He was William Pierce born in Lower Merion Twp, PA on June 27, 1899. He was raised as William Pierce Hansell and died in 1987. He was married to Frances Krull (b. around 1915) from Pottsville, PA. According to the family stories my grandfather was orphaned shortly after birth when his parents died of consumption. He was raised by his Aunt - Sylimilla Pierce (b. 1872) and her husband John Hansell (b. 1869). According to the 1900 Census Records, Sylimilla (aka Lynnie) and John Hansell lived with her father, widower William Pierce, in Lower Merion Township, PA. Sylimilla Pierce(great name, huh?) and John Hansell had two daughters, Myrtle (b. 1891 d. 1966) and Elizabeth Young Hansell (b. 1896 d. 1997). I have not been able to dig up any information on the elder William. I have not been able to connect him to the Chester County Pierce family. There was a J.S.Pearce who was prominant in Lower merion- he was an undertaker and coroner, whose name is sometimes spelled Pierce in historic records. My grandfather worked for undertakers from the 1920 until the 1960s. But so far I haven't been able to make that link either. My grandfather is buried in Westminster Cemetary in Bala Cynwyd, PA. I plan to make a trip there over the holidays. I'll let you know what I turn up. I will also stop at the Courthouse in Norristown for some birth certificates, although they say they have nothing prior to 1893. For Christmas I hope to be able to give my mother some sort of a family tree, because she really knows nothing about this side of her family. I feel fortunate to have discovered the Pierce Project. I am willing to share information if you want me as a researcher.
