Re: Dave Slaunwhite: I got your message about the sites that I used when I found some cousins and now I cannot find them. Is there someone out there that kept a copy of those sites? Would you please re-post them for me and for the benefit of those who would like to see them again. Thank you and hope that you are all getting on with your searches with success. Take care Penny

----- Original Message ----- Subject: [PIERCE-L] Pearce are there any Pearce's from England out there? Mine appear to have lived a couple of generations in Cambridge but I don't where they came from originally. > Regards> Jeanette Hi Jeanette and others, Yes, I'm from, and in, England. Wolverhampton is in the West Midlands, not far from Birmingham and on the edge of the "Black Country". My mother's mother, Elsie RAYBOULD married a Naaman PEARCE in 1919, the son of Charles PEARCE, in Cradley, near Dudley. Charles had married Louisa PARTRIDGE in 1884, in Dudley, Worcestershire, at the age of 24 i.e. born circa 1860. They had 9 children as far as I am aware: Joseph, Mary, Harry, Elsie, Louie, Lawson ("Fred"), Charles, David and my grandfather Naaman ("Norman"). The marriage certificate says that Charles' father was also Charles, but he was deceased at the time of his son's marriage. There the trail finishes. The 1881 Census has only one Charles PEARCE in Dudley, of approx. the right age (about 21), but his father was George. In 1881 there is another Charles PEARCE in the nearby township of Kingswinford, of the right age and this one has the right occupation too (coal miner), born a mile away in Bromley, Staffordshire. But he is a lodger, so this doesn't get me far in family history terms. And there are no PEARCEs living in Bromley in the 1881 Census! My great grandfather could have come to this part of England from Cambridge, or anywhere else. I just don't know. Do these few facts fit in or help anyone? This is the least developed line of my family tree and I would really like to find out more... I have made a pdf reprint of the entire hawthorne Franklin Pierce book. Read onscreen or download to your hard drive to read later clickable pdf book http://members.xoom.com/ldpierce/letters.html Letter from Joan Marks, 110 South Eli, Salmon, ID 83467 [email protected] Dear LD Here is a copy of the leter written by the daughter of John and Fannie Cavender Abercrombie that I mentioned. She was the sister of Nancy Abercrombie Pierce and their brother William was my father's Grandfather. I am also sending you the newspaper clipping of an obituary for Clem Pierce, a son of Nancy Abercrombie, and Andrew Jackson Pierce, Which I discovered in a few items from my father. Your lineage posted on Genforum cleared up the mystery for me. I knew he had to be a relative but no idea what the connection was. The trips to the "mountains of Colorado" would have been to his cousin JJJ Abercrombie's place, who lived in Trinidad, Colorado. JJJ (john Joseph Jarrett) was a son of William Wiley Abercrombie, Nancy Abercrombie Pierce's Brother. My father Calvin Abercrombie,, a son of JJJ, and we also lived in Trinidad when I was a child before moving to Seattle, WA. Unfortunately I found this clipping after my dad died, so had no conversation about it. Also, unfortunately, the obituary writer did not include any family names, locations, ect. It must have been from his local Johnson County TX newspaper? Thought you might like the original clipping as you are a more of a direct descendant. (perhaps someone in your family may have another one somewhere) and I kept a copy. Would like to keep in touch--"cousin" Joan Marks July 6 1999 Ps JJJ Abercrombie was the son of William Wiley Abercrombie B. 1830, who was a brother of Fannie the writer, Nancy (married AJ Pierce), and Charles Abercrombie (plus other sibilings) Their parents were John and Fannie (Cavender) Abercrombie. John and his brother Young (David) plus other siblings, wre children of James (b. ca 1765) and Mary Ann Williams Abercrombie. Wahoo Ga Jane 13 1897 Mr JJJ Abercrombie Dear nephew your letter bearing date of the ____ is at hand. I am the daughter of John Abercrombie. I have no record of the place of birth of father and mother. I can give the date of birth and date of death and place of death. John Abercrombie was born Dec 22 1791 and died Jan 22 1864 in Lumpkin CO, GA. Fanie Cavender the wife of John Abercrombie was born May 16 1797 and died Oct 19 1857 in Lumpkin CO GA. I have no record of James Abercrombie's Birth or death date but died here in GA. Their grave is 3 miles north of where I live. I have been told his wife's name was Nancy ----____? I have always been told by some of the Older ones that the Abercrombie came from Scotland. Charles Abercrombie got a leter from uncle Young Abercrombie some years ago. He wrote his understanding that there were 3 brothers of Abercrombies that came over on the Mayflower. It landed at Plymouth Rock, and their names are on record there. Now John I have forgotten your name, only John ( I remember that part). Write me again tell me of your folks. I do not know their address. I reckon that have all forgot. Write me again tell me what you are aiming at, if I can find out anyting more I will tell you when I hear from you again. Excuse bad spelling and writingÂ….. Yours Truly, Fannie James Wahoo, GA Newspaper article sent to me by Joan Marks of Sulman ID. Her great grandfather was brother to Nancy E Abercrombie, and she found this obituary of Clem Pierce among his things. She also sent letter from Fannie James (Nancy Abercrombie Pierce's) JJJ Abercrombie (John Calvin) JJJ Abercrombie of Trinidad Co. "Citizen is Dead At Home" Clem Pierce Yields to Grim Reaper and is Called to Heavenly Reward April 5th, 1907. On Sunday night at 8:15 o'clock Mr. Clem Pierce, one is of the best known ranchers and stockmen of Johnson County, was called to his heavenly reward. Mr. Pierce had been in poor health of some time. For the past several summers he had been spending much of his time in the mountains of Colorado. These summer trips seemed to improve his health, but two weeks ago, he was attacked by la grippe and since that time slowly sank, until death claim him. The attack of la grippe was followed by an attack of heart disease. On Friday his condition became alarming, and although he had the best of attention, it was to no avail. He was born in Hall County GA Dec 16, 1842, and was 66 years old at the time of his death. (1907). He leaves a wife, and several children to mourn his death. The funeral was held from the familyu residence on Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The friends of the deceased will join this paper in extending suympathy during this hour of bereavement. this obit helps a lot gives his birth date we can figure death date did not know he had died in Colorado. Question: was he buried in colordado or TX?? We know his wife and girls were with him when he died and probably Olla Dell Pierce also. I checked out the listing below: Unlike our research, this project has encompassed the format similar to GED file, and goes through 13 or 14 generations. This is indeed a great research project, and I am willing to house GED files for those that have them and want them placed on the Pierce web site, they would be housed in a section for GED files however, I will not be responsible for emailing GED files, if someone wants to view the GED file, it would be available for that. However, I don't think email is the solution, I think a website format where the ged is available for viewing is much more appropriate. I think what some of you are failing to understand is that THE PIERCE & Variant PROJECT is to collect ALL Data in one spot, available for FREE, to all researchers for Pierce & Variant spellings. IMHO it is each researchers obligation to put together their own GEDs for their family trees, once they are accomplished I will be happy to house them with the Pierce & Variant Project, but we can not rely on GEDS as our sole source of information, there are many that start with ONE name and need further information based on "state", county, city, dob, dod, ss#, wills, obits, to further them in their ultimate goal of a complete GED. I am not saying you need from 1999 back to 1600 to do a GED, but you should have more than 1 name for a GED file. GED's can be confusing, and are certainly not as easily accessable as a web page where you can search. <BTW> I hope you are using the search engine, it is working. ON ANOTHER NOTE: I am sorry I was late in replying to this, we had our Pierce family reunion at R-Ranch in Dahlonega, GA this week end, and I was gone from Thurs until this evening (I left early most stayed through tomorrow, but I have to go to work> anyway, I will relate that while I was touring up in Suches, GA (desperately seeking a gas station because my fuel computer said "fuel low" every two minutes, and I had traveling 20+ miles without seeing a service station up and down roads where my husband had heel marks on his shins from chasing the rear-end of the car around the mountain, <just kidding> I stopped at a store and used my credit card for my gas, lo and behold I met another Pierce, (who is not into genealogy <can you believe that>? <grin> Anyway long story shorter, I have some information on him and I am desperately going to try to link him into my family, he even lookd like our gang, so.... that's one instance of credit card use was great". We took lots of family photos at the lodge today and had a great time (close to 60) participants. So, while I did not learn anything new from our folks, I did learn that some people don't use internet, aren't interested in genealogy, but ARE willing to help YOU try to fit them into your family. So, keep your eyes open, you never know "where" you might find yet another one. I am researching Lewis Pierce and the only info that I have is as follows: Born- abt 1755 possibly in Ct or NC Married- abt 1783 to Ann Wooten possibly NC Military- Rev. War pension was filed Listed Wilkes Co,Ga militia roster 1789 Died- abt July 1833 in Covington Co.,Ms. Children- Jeremiah Pierce , Ann Pierce Bridges, Rebecca Pierce Malone, and Lewis P. Pierce. Any info about Lewis' origins and parents would be of tremendous help. Also any documentation est. parenthood of Jeremiah by Lewis and Ann would be extremely helpful. I am currently trying to tie my family line to one of the immigrant Pierces and am excited who that person is Thank you to everyone for your help and stay in touch. Sincerely, Michael S. Pierce

I've been playing w/ my web pages. I finally got back into it and figured out simple frames. I've almost finished my genealogy web page. I linked much of my research (all US). It's not graphics intensive, so should load pretty quickly. I'm now looking for genealogy links to add to the bottom of the page. Suggestions, anyone? Anyway, please visit and let me know what you think. :-) acp ******* "Too many stupid people. Too few comets." ******** *********************************************************************** * A.
