    1. [PIERCE-L] Sameul Houston Pierce
    2. I am looking for any information on Sam Houston Pierce. He was born in AL. 1835. In 1850 he was 15 on the Rusk Co., TX census listed as Sammie. I don't find him anywhere in 1860. IN 1870/1800 he is in Kaufman Co., TX listed as Houston. My Grandmother called him Uncle Huse. His wife died in 1900 June I think. Then he supposedly went to Lamar Co., TX remarried and had another family. She died and he married yet again and had a family. They moved to Choctaw Co., OK in 1921 near Boswell. This is where he died. His children from the second marriage went and got the body and brought it to Lamar Co., TX to be buried by the second wife. I cab find NO marriage record for him. I would like to find something with his name listed as Sam Houston, S. H., or something proving this is the same man. There are two markers for a Sam. One died 1898 no birth date and one 1866 - 1935. If this is him he was 100 years old but it is possible and they may not have known how old he was. His parents were James and Elizabeth Nelms Pierce . they are buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, in Kaufman Co., TX and his first wife is buried there also. Can anyone help? 3. Nita, I am so curious, I just have to ask....How do you have all this vast amount of information catalogued/stored? It seems like you have info on hundreds or maybe thousands of Pierces/Pearces/Perces/Pearses/Percys that aren't even related to you. I've just begun my family search, and find it a little overwhelming just trying to focus on those persons who show some promise of fitting into my family tree. I can't even imagine how you would keep so much "unrelated" information at hand. Your efforts and your willingness to share the information you've collected is truly appreciated. 3. Yesterday a very nice young lady send a message to the list in re to a Pierce photo from Mass. she has purchased it at a antique store, she wanted to get it back to the right family. I agreed to purchase and pay postage for the picture for the website that I have for lost photos, lost tombstones, lost family memorials etc - I have not received the photo, she is sending it via snail mail to me - I will post url to the list when I scan it after I receive it. At the present time we only have 2 tombstone pictures, the bible and obit have been placed with the appropriate families (they were not Pierce items) <grin>. Hope this helps to clear the confusion. Thanks. Brenda <snip> > How do I find out what photo you are speaking of?

    3. Hi everyone; I have a copy of a letter written May 25, 1923 by Wallace J. Pearce Supervisor of Routt National Forest Craig, CO. My daughter, who now works for the Routt/Medicine Bow National Forest, Steam Boat Springs, CO, is trying to locate his personnel file. She has others working on it for her. In the letter he is trying to make it a policy to use horses more and automobiles less on the forest except for emergency trips and trips for supplies. Trying to save the tax payers money it seems. Does name ring any bells with anyone? Nita
