Mary You don't say where your Pierces were after the were grown. Lovick in Delta Co. could be related to mine Houston Pierce as some of them went to Delta Cc, also another set in Lamar. They also had a Sam Houston Pierce. The father of mine was James. The father of the other line was Rueben I am told. Does anyone have information on the Pierce Cemetery in Delta Co. Wanda
I was shocked to find that there are so many Lovic(k) Pierces! I have two that I know of in my family. My great-grandparents were Lovic Bianica and Laura Mae (Conder) Pierce. I do not know where they were from or who their parents were. The following were siblings of Lovic Bianica Pierce: Louie, Richard, Henry and Theed. I don't know the correct birth order. This information was passed from my grandmother to my mother and was recorded in our family Bible when I was a small child. Lovic Bianica and Laura Mae (Conder) Pierce had the following children: Emery, Buck, Baxter, Lillian, Junita and Lovic Buford Pierce. Again, I do not know the correct birth order. My paternal grandparents were Lovic Buford and Zora Helen (Phillips) Pierce. My father told me that my grandfather, Lovic Buford Pierce, was born on August 12, 1906 in Cooper (Delta County), Texas. At some point, they migrated to Rush Springs, OK and then to Marlow, OK. He died on June 14, 1985 in Lawton, OK and was buried on June 17, 1985 in Marlow, OK. Does anyone out there recognize any of these names?
I am not sure how to post a listing. Do I do that here? I will do so, and if it is not the right place, please let me know. I am looking for William Cortney (Courtney) Pierce. Born approx. 1860 in NC or VA. He married Mary Ann Phipps. I have searched census', and every record I could get my hands and can not find this man. He is my ggrandfather, and he seems to have appeared out of nowhere. If anyone has any information on Courtney, I would appreciate hearing from you. Mary
LD, There is also a book called "Two Brothers: Reddick and Lovick Pierce" by Lovick Wilson Pierce and Esther Pierce Maxwell, 1981, Cherokee Publishing Company, Atlanta. The Lovick who is the subject of this book is Dr. Lovick Pierce, father of Bishop George Foster Pierce. Harry S. Pierce of High Shoals, GA copied a few pages from this book and sent to me about 8 months ago, but the pages he sent did not contain the genealogy on Lovick. There is also information about Dr. Lovick Pierce and son Bishop Pierce in "The History of Greene County, Georgia 1786-1886" with data by Dr. Thaddeus Brockett Rice and edited by Carolyn White Williams, second printing 1973, Wilkes Publishing Co., Washington, GA. In this history it states "There were three distinguished members of the family: Lovick Pierce, Bishop George F. Pierce and Lovick Pierce, Jr. a son of the Bishop." It also mentions that the elder Lovick was conferred a Doctor of Divinity in 1840 and George was made a Bishop in 1854. Pearce, Lovick 66 NC Muscogee Co. Pierce, George F. 39 GA Newton Co. Lovick 10 GA Newton Co. Pierce, Evonett 35 NC Randolph Co. Lovik 10 GA Randolph Co. Pierce, Lovic 24 SC Troup Co. It is believed that the 42 yr. old Lovick in Gwinnett Co. is the son of Wyley Pierce, so would not have been a Jr. And, he is maybe too old to have been enlisted. The 24 yr. old Lovic in Troup Co. could possibly be the son of 66 yr old Lovick, or some other unaccounted for Lovick, and therefore been Lovic Jr. Another possiblility is the 10 yr. old son of George F. Pierce in Newton Co. This appears to be Bishop George Foster Pierce, who is the son of Dr. Lovick Pierce. From information that I have, it appears that George's 10 yr. old son is actually named Lovick Pierce, II. If he enlisted in the CSA Infantry, they may have put him down as Lovick Pierce, Jr. instead of II. Lastly, it could be a Lovick Pierce who was not living in GA in 1850. > Levi R. Pierce was in the 52nd Regiment Volunteer Infantry Company I > > Brenda > This would probably be Levi Richard (Bud) Pierce, son of Reuben Harrison Pierce and Sarah Baker. Dorman Thomas would have information to confirm this. Dan Pierce Saugus, CA
I don't think I have seen anyone post these items before, maybe they can help LD/Wanda ..... or anyone else? Lovick Pierce, Jr. was in the 15th Regiment Volunteer Infantry Company E and FI. Levi R. Pierce was in the 52nd Regiment Volunteer Infantry Company I Brenda
I am looking for the family and specifically the parents of: Richard Adams Pierce who married Susanna Estep 24 January 1787 in Prince Georges Co., MD. He died by 1804 in PG County. Thank you, Nedra
Hello I'm trying to find out some info on the "Perus" spelling somewhere about the time of my great grandfather the spelling change from Perus to Pierce. I know they came from Canada and when they did the spelling of the name change. They settled in Wis, LaCrosse area My fathers name is Thomas Pierce, his father was Charles Pierce married to Josephine Bahr. That is as much that I have. Timothy Pierce [email protected]
For those of you that don't already know, I just discovered this site. In 1895, Frederick Clifton Pierce published The Descendants of John Whitney, who came from London, England, to Watertown, Massachusetts, in 1635. In order to better assist Whitney researchers, members of the Whitney Research Group (WRG) have decided to undertake the task of transcribing this work and making it readily available to all researchers. http://www.gentree.com/whitney/pierce/ Hope it helps someone! LD, I would be interested in the Lovick Pierce information. I know we are related according to Rhea Kurykendall. The lady in Sumner, TX has a Rueben M father of Sam Houston. hurry and get the info on line. Wanda
Hi Angela, I am not related to the famous Dr. R.V. Pierce but I do have a couple of his bottles. I also have a little advertising booklet he published for 1924. Here is a quote: "Over fifty years ago a young physician practiced widely in Pennsylvania and became famous for his uniform success in the curing of disease. This was Dr. R.V. Pierce who afterwards established himself in Buffalo, N.Y., and placed his 'Golden Medical Discovery,' in the drugstores of the United States. When you feel run-down, out of sorts, blue and despondent, try the energizing influence of Golden Medical Dicovery in tablet or liquid form. The 'Discovery' contains no alchohol nor any harmful ingredient." The booklet lists his dispensary address as: No. 665 Main Street, Buffalo, N.Y. It has been a while - searching out Mariah and her husband Ephriam -- Spelling can be any which way. The will shows PEARCE, the census shows Pierce / Peirce - the son's tombstone shows Peirce Pierce Perice - All three spellings. Ephriam died in 1829 leaving Mariah (Maria) with three small children - Lucretia, Parthena and James. They all lived in Ralls County MISSOURI. There was an Earl Pierce from Quincy IL who was also listed in the will. I am trying -- still -- to locate any information on this couple. I have not found marriage lines in Missouri, KY -- I received a picture this week...actually 45 that are supposedly of my Peirce line... but could be friends of the family too from one of my TURNER relatives I found in TEXAS one picture was from PA. Some say that the PEIRCE family came from NEW YORK - however, the only sure thing I know is that the children were born in Missouri. I have most of James Information. The girls both married into the Mill's family. Anyone with information on Ephriam and Mariah --- I would appreciate hearing from you. By the way, Mariah (Maria) was 49 in the 1950 census. Thanks Lorrie Peirce Riemer
Here I go again. A lady from Sumner, TX called me today about Sam Pierce. He was hers but not mine. Her Sam was the husband of Julia Jones and Lou Larkin. He was born in 1866 in GA. Does anyone know him? His father was Rueben M. Pierce. The father of mine is James C. Pierce. Sure would like to find his grave. I am thinking it is in Kaufman Co. unless it is the other Sam in Lamar Co. He died 1896/8. I need all the help I can get. Wanda
Does anyone recognize this title that used to be bottled about a hundred years ago out of Buffalo, New York? The bottle also has R.V. Pierce, M.D. printed on the side of the bottle. Just curious. A family member picked on up at a relics show/sale recently. Is Dr. R. V. Pierce an ancestor of someone out there, and if so, what is the story behind his "favorite" prescription? Thanks for your consideration. Angela Pierce Groenhout
I'm looking for any info on Philip C. Pierce who was born and raised somewhere in Indiana. One of his sons was born in 1846 and Philip was still in Indiana at that time. Shortly after that he moved to Bollinger Co. Missouri. Any connections???? Jennifer

Many of you know about my pierce research and talking about my possible link to Hugh Pierce VA 1749 via the finding of Rhea Kuykendall's genealogy papers at the Fort Worth Library http://members.xoom.com/ldpierce/Joeljpierce.html I finally got to the Fort Worth main library (Genealogy Section) today only to find that All the papers in Rhea's--Pierce genealogy file--have been stolen. (or lost or misfiled) The head genealogist feels they were stolen. Wanda Ruby sent me a copy of part of his material pertaining to his STRIPES (Tx Genealogy magazine) articles about pierce and kuykendall genealogy. I have not got it straight in my mind but Rhea's Wife or his fathers wife was Joanna Pierce a direct descendent of Hugh Pierce VA . I have scanned this STRIPES article into text format, and have been meaning to clean up the text and formatting for some time--so that I could sent it out to the pierce list. I had put this off thinking about getting stripes consent before resdistributing. I guess I should do the clean and format and just send it out to you guys anyway. She also sent me the other big find --Rhea had a letter from my Great Uncle written in 1937. I am trying to figure out what other material that has been lost. Do we (on this list) have any members who had been to the Fort Worth Library and made a complete photo copy of Rhea's Pierce File?????
