    1. [PIERCE-L] Old Genealogy Helpers
    2. Collene Pearce
    3. Some time ago, I bought a collection of old "Genealogy Helpers" magazine, from a lady who was "closing out" a bookstore. It's about a 20 year supply, from 1970 thru sometime in the 1990s. I rarely have time to do much research, so I'm just now getting around to them. AND, I must say, I think the magazine title may have been a "misnomer" for those early issues, anyway. They've been mainly useless. ;-) Most of them have nothing but queries and NO INDEX! Gasp!! ;-) However, here's a VERY LONG shot, if anyone wants to take it. One of the 1970 issues has an index of people doing genealogy research and the names they are researching. Keep in mind, this magazine is 30 YEARS OLD and chances are, these researchers are dead or have moved. However, in the event anyone wants to try to contact them, I'd be willing to look up the names you're searching and send you back the addresses of related researchers. Some of the entries have specific names, w/ birth/death data. Some have only a surname. So, send the name/surname you feel will be the most effective. If you're interested, please send me private email, rather than cluttering up the list. Please send no more than 2 names in your email and mention which list you're from. I'll only have this set of magazines out for the next few days, so be quick with your names, but please allow me extra time to do all the lookups. :-) :-) acp ******* "Too many stupid people. Too few comets." ******** *********************************************************************** * A. 3. Lane Pierce recently posted 3 paragraphs followed by 14 pages reprinted from Warren and Linda Pearce. Posters can give readers a break by trimming their "reply to". Some listmasters require that, while others only call it a matter of courtesy. Hank Matty

    1. [PIERCE-L] A request for Edmund pierce
    2. Jaidi Lynne Pierce
    3. AS per a request I am sending out the info on Edmund pierce again. Edmund was born about 1769, in St. brides major, glamorganshire, wales( As far as we know) He married Anne frances in 1794, in St. brides major, i have a record of that, but as far as his birth I do not have anything. Following Anne's death about 1823, he married Janet Jenkins in 1829, also in St. brides major. He died in st. brides major in 1853. His children were william, william thomas thomas, mary, john and edmund. Following his marriage to Janet jenkins they had additional children: david richard and qwenillian. If anyone has any info that they can share. I need his parents names. Birthdate, place, and anything that anyone knows. Thank you in advance for your help! Jaidi

    2. Revae
    3. I am trying again to connect with anyone who had a PIERCE in their line who was originally in MA, possibly ME, and left for NY by 1821 when my Solomon Terry PIERCE was born. I have been unable to locate his parents. Surely out of all the Pierce data online and so many researchers there is someone who has this information 'squirreled' away in their data bank. I really, really need some help. Thanks.

    1. [PIERCE-L] Flora B. PIERCE, ca: 1880's - 1890's
    2. Well friends - I'm back. Pop onto your list on occassion with queries re: SHERMAN/PIERCE families. This time, I've run into some postcards in an antique shop in Jasper, TX from 1905/1906. Some are written between "Grandma" Mary Sherman, and her grandaughter Flora B. Pierce - living in New Bedford, MA. Anyone know of this lady.??? One is dated on 25 Oct, 1905 and wishes Flora "Happy Birthday". Course no telling how old Flora was then... I have uncovered one "possibility". I have found an Addie Bradford Sherman who married Lavelle Irving PIERCE in Oct. 1874 in Rochester, MA. This Addie's mother was named Mary, and her father (William) died in New Bedford in 1910. Anyone know this Lavelle PIERCE, and know if possibly they had a daughter named Flora? Could the "B" have been for Bradford (mother's middle name)? I'll be happy to share the postcards, if anyone would like. Thanks, Art Please contact me privately, as I'll unsubscribe after sending this..

    3. Regarding your entry; - ----------------------------------- 41. ABEL7 PEARCE (Jonathan6, Isaacs5, Jeptha 4, George 3. George2, Richard1), born in LC 29 June 1834. He married first 27 Sept. 1865 FANNY LACY, born 5 Feb. 1839, died in December 1870. He married second in October 1875 HARRIET JAMES. He became a Texas rancher, well known as "Shanghai" Pierce of Pierce Station, Texas. Children: i. Mamie F., b. 19 July 1867. 42. JONATHAN7 PEARCE (Jonathan6, Isaacs5, Jeptha4, George3, George2, Richard1), born in LC 6 Dec. 1839. He married 2 May 1866 NANNIE LACY, born 11 Aug. 1845. Residence: Dennings Bridge, Metagoda County, Texas. where he owned a very large tract of land. Children i. Jonathan P., b. 5 Nov. 1868. ii. Pearl, b. 26 Dec. 1873. iii. Abel, b. 4 Dec. 1875. iv. Grace. b. 1 Sept. 1879. - ----------------------------------------------- County name is Matagorda. Able and Jonathan were both responsible for a large cattle business at Pierce Station (Pierce, TX). As I understand it from the decendents there, Jonathan had a number of children (sorry no research). Enough that his house eventually became a small hotel and, I think, is a restuarant today. They were responsible for intriducing Rose-of-Sharon in TX as a natural fence/barrier and were responsible for bringin Brama cattle to the US. -Lane ----- Original Message ----- From: Warren Pearce <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, November 13, 1999 7:11 PM Subject: [PIERCE-L] Little Compton Pearce Records #5 - END > > 36. 2. It is difficult to determine what geographical area you are referring to. Where is Little Compton? Is it a town, a township, a county? What state is it in? This is a national posting and it would be helpful if postings were more clearly marked geographically.

    2. Warren Pearce
    3. Looks like I goofed! Little Compton is in the east part of Rhode Island, on the east side of the Sakonnet River, and east of Newport and Portsmouth. While it is not shown on a 1639 - 1659 Rhode Island map, it does show up in the 1659 - 1703 version. The 1703 - 1750 map includes Tiverton as the north half of what was the overall Little Compton area. Sorry for the goof. WWP Linda & Warren Pearce Colorado Springs CO 80919-4821
